An Art Deco walnut cased 8 day small mantel clock by Garrard Clock Ltd, Swindon, 17.5cm high, Garrard & Co., the crown jewellers, set up an engineering division during the Great War harnessing their workforce’s skills for the war effort. Post war they carried on, mainly with gramophone mechanisms, and set up the Garrard Clock Co. in 1931. Lots 75-220 are from the collection of Laurence W. Hodson (1863-1933) and thence by descent.
