An impressive quality gilt/brass cased mantel clock for restoration having a three-train spring- driven movement, the balance wheel being visible through the upper window and having a repeater mechanism. The bells to the movement are absent but three three striking hammers are in situ. The metal frame to the case all appears to be present including the corner frames and the clock case is beautifully decorated with engraved scrolling foliage and flower blooms throughout, the heavy back-plate having six apertures closed by a single swinging shutter and also featuring a regulator slide and a presumed strike/silent selector. The clock has a principal enamelled dial with Roman numerals and an inset second hand below the twelve o'clock position, and below, two subsidiary dials with respectively the days of the month (1 to 31) and what is presumed to be the months of the year (1 to 12). 5 9/16" wide, 4" deep and 8 13/16" high (swing handle down) and 10 5/16" high (swing handle up). The side bevelled glasses are present but chipped, the top glass is in situ but the front glass is absent. The minute hand requires a small repair to the tip. All in all a magnificent timepiece well worthy of a full and surely highly rewarding restoration to its former glory.
