An oval oil on board profile portrait, titled Henry Kirke White (1785-1806) poet, signed lower right T. Wilkinson dated 1801, approx 47 x 37 cms, contemporary Berlin frame.   Note: White published a small volume of poems in 1803, which was not successful. In 1805, he began studying at Cambridge where he was a highly regarded scholar. He died of consumption at the age of twenty-one. After his death a large quantity of verse and prose was found among his papers, which was published as The Remains of Henry Kirke White with an Account of his Life, this volume formed the basis of White's reputation as a promising poet who died tragically young. A similar work can be found in the National Gallery by Thomas Barber.  Provenance: Property of a lady.

A British WW1 1907 pattern Wilkinson bayonet, complete with scabbard and later webbing frog. Usual wooden slab grips, with what appears to be an identical embossed king’s crown inspection stamps in the wood on both sides. Steel cross guard with muzzle ring, and birds beak pommel with button release catch. Marked to the ricasso with the king’s crown and GR, plus the pattern of 1907, and the date of ‘12 15’ for December 1915. Also various inspection stamps and a bend test mark. Leather scabbard with blued steel throat and chape, the former with teardrop shaped frog stud. The webbing frog is broad arrow marked, and has a faintly ink stamped date of 1941. The leather scabbard is also embossed stamped ‘HGR 15’. Approximately 57.8cm length in scabbard, blade length 43.4cm. Condition: good. Normal age and service wear, with darkening to the steel parts. Some scratching to the leather surface of the scabbard, but this otherwise remains intact.

A selection of 19th and early 20th century fencing foils, made in various hilt and blade styles, with some resembling cavalry type swords, and others in a European rapier style, and including 3 examples made by Wilkinson, and other continental pieces (possibly Solingen). Most of the blades are of triangular section, with others being of square section - all but two have a capped or blunted end. 7 blades in total. Condition: varies across blades. Some show normal age wear, with darkening to the blades and hilts, with others showing much heavier wear, missing leather to the grips, and contact scratching from use.

A 3rd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes Commando knife, with the Indian contract mark of a letter I over a broad arrow mark to the cross guard. Supplied by Wilkinson in 1943, the terms of the contract stated that no additional markings, such as trade marks were to be put on the pieces (numbering around 2500 in quantity). The only other mark appears to be a raised number 2 cast into the pommel area. Distinctive doughnut shaped securing nut to the end, along with the usual tool mark to the nut from where it’s been tightened. Flattened diamond shaped blade, with the usual V shaped grind to the central spine, as seen on the 3rd pattern FS knife. Complete with its brown leather scabbard with metal chape. Approximately 30.5cm in its scabbard, blade length 17.1cm. Condition: generally good. Good overall colour and patination to the piece, but there is a little oxidisation between the grooves in the handle. Normal service and age related wear. Together with what appears to be a civilian issue Fairbairn Sykes style knife, lacking its scabbard, and no visible marks (oxidisation to the handle).

A WWI certificate regarding the award of The Military Medal for Gallantry, to 240112 Corporal G.E.Wilkinson 1/5th battalion West Riding Regiment territorial force awarded military medal 3rd September 1917, signed by General Rawlinson, together with certificate of sacrifice stating that Sargeant George Wilkinson military medal of the West Riding Regiment has made the ultimate sacrifice, and a letter from The Infantry Records Office dated 1918 to Miss J Wilkinson regarding the death of George Wilkinson military medal giving location of his burial, and a sacrifice certificate in the name of Private Felix Wilkinson West Yorkshire Regiment stating that he has died whilst serving in The Great War.

A NAMED VICTORIAN ROYAL NAVY OFFICER'S SWORD, RETAILED BY J. GIEVE & SONS PORTSMOUTH (1901-1904). PROOF DISC TYPICAL OF WILKINSON MADE BLADES. NAMED TO "H.G.HEWITT". COMMANDER (RETIRED) HEATHCOTE GEORGE HEWITT, O.B.E, R.N., (9 MARCH 1983 - ) SERVED IN THE ROYAL NAVY. The son of Thomas Hewitt, Barrister at Law was born in Walton and gained two months' time on passing out of Britannia. Hewitt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1904. Hewitt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1912. He was appointed Captain of H.M. Torpedo Boat 51 between 10 Jan, 1905 – 24 Jan, 1905, and Captain of H.M. Torpedo Boat 78 between 24 Jan, 1905 – 14 Mar, 1906. A Court Martial on 23 April, 1942 found Hewitt guilty on three charges of theft, two charges of improperly ordering government stores to be landed and one change of landing provisions contrary to regulations. Three charges were not proved. He was sentenced to be dismissed from H.M.S. Sandhurst and to be severely reprimanded.
