A Victorian silver ink stand, Sheffield 1846, Henry Wilkinson & Co, of oblong form, with pierced and engraved foliate decoration, raised on four feet, two cut glass inkwells and central silver taperstick, approx 25cm wide. CONDITION REPORT: Wear holes to a few of the prominent high points. One shallow dent to one corner. One wing nut missing to base. Minor denting to taperstick. Conforming hallmarks to all individual pieces.

A George V silver epergne, Birmingham 1910, probably T. Wooley or T. Wilkinson & Sons, the raised oval base on four pierced feet supporting an oval bowl with shaped and pierced border, twin branches with two further oval bowls, approx 19cm high by 67cm wide, approx 56.3oz. CONDITION REPORT: Good overall condition, rubbing to marks.
Calabria, Tarentum AR Didrachm. Circa 480-470 BC. Taras seated on dolphin to right, shell below, TAPA? (retrograde) behind / Wheel with four spokes. HISTORICAL: Miscellaneous selection of A.Ls.S., a few signed clipped pieces etc., including John Jervis (1735-1823) 1st Earl of St Vincent. British Admiral of the Fleet. A.L.S., St Vincent, one page, oblong 8vo, Portsmouth, 24th April 1800, to a gentleman. St Vincent thanks his correspondent for their attentive letter and remarks 'I agree with you in opinion that in justice to myself I ought to have continued a month longer ashore at least'. In a postscript, signed with his initials, St Vincent informs his correspondent 'I have this moment recd. Mr Baird's Warrant, a further proof of your attention to me'. Lightly mounted to a page removed from an album and with two small areas of paper loss to the upper corners; William Gladstone (1809-1898) British Prime Minister 1868-74, 1880-85, 1886, 1892-94. A.L.S., W E Gladstone, two pages, 8vo, 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, 30th November 1870, to Mr. Ball. Gladstone states that it has given him pleasure to meet his correspondent's wishes on behalf of Mr. Wilkinson 'by recommending him to the Queen for the Parish of Lutterworth' and concludes by remarking 'Please do consider this as confidential for a few days'. Slightly irregularly trimmed to the left edge; Philip Stanhope (1694-1773) 4th Earl of Chesterfield. British Statesman and Man of Letters. Ink signature ('Chesterfield') and several additional lines of holograph text on a piece removed from the conclusion of a letter. Neatly mounted at one edge and with some light staining and foxing and a small area of paper loss, not affecting the signature, also including signed pieces by Henry Fuseli, Samuel Plimsoll and several letters relating to Michel Ney (1769-1815) French Military Commander during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Marshal of France, comprising Aglaé Louise Auguie (1782-1854) Wife of Ney. A.L.S., as Princess de la Moskowa, one page, 8vo, n.p., 3rd July 1838, to a gentleman, in French, regarding obtaining a passport for herself, a servant and chamber maid, in order to visit the north of Italy, two further A.Ls.S. by Joseph Napoleon Ney (1803-1857) 2nd Prince de la Moskowa, eldest son of Ney and Auguie, four pages (total), 8vo, n.p., n.d., in French. The first letter also concerns obtaining a passport for his mother and the second relates to a draft sent to Laffitte's bank. Accompanied by contemporary English translations. All three letters are neatly mounted at the upper edges alongside each other and below notes in the hand of a collector and a printed description from an old French catalogue. Further including an A.L.S. by Alessandro Gavazzi (1809-1889) Italian Patriot, one page, 4to, n.p., 18th October 1854, in Italian although with the concluding line in English, 'May God bless my dear Italy with the blessing of the Bible'. Crisp moulding. engraved with initials to the centre. Overall good condition.

Frame very scuffed and chipped.
