Emma 'Emily' Mary WILKINSON (1864-1943) Cannon Corner, Ramsgate, 1933 Oil on canvas board, signed and dated, artist label to verso, 41 x 60cm, framed 48 x 66cm.Emily Wilkinson 'was a member of the Birmingham Art Circle but she was dogged by ill-health. Her obituary writer comments, "She studied in Paris and this influenced her work, which was decidedly impressionistic, but had the linear and narrative qualities of her own country." Her Cornish connections are unknown. She first exhibited with the St Ives Society of Artists in the 1930 summer exhibition and was elected a member in 1932 but she did not participate in the principal touring shows only the 1937 show at Bath, where her exhibits were two oils Young Russian and Cookery Book. She exhibited at the RA between 1931 and 1938' - David Tovey, Creating a Splash, page 285

Sir Geoffrey Rhodes Bromet KBE, CB, DSO, DL A very good example of the regulation pattern, George V period and complete with special pattern scabbard. The single edged straight blade with etched decoration of a Royal Arms and RAF crest. To the forte the retailer’s details of Gieves. The hilt with white shagreen grip enclosed by a gilt guard incorporating the RAF crest and Crowned GVR cypher The grip surmounted by an eagle head pommel. Contained in the special pattern Air Officer scabbard, the gilt mounts embossed with floral decoration. Complete with with bullion knot. Gilt remains bright and fresh near Parade condition, small amount of age wear. ... Accompanied by an Isle of Man presentation sword, made by Wilkinson the blade with presentation text "Presented by His Honour First Deemster and Clerk of the Rolls S J Kneale C.B.E. to Air Vice Marshall Sir Geoffrey Bromet for his outstanding service as Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from 1945 to 1952". To the forte the three legs Arms of the Isle of Man. (2 items) Air Vice Marshal Sir Geoffrey Rhodes Bromet KBE, CB, DSO, DL was commissioned into the Royal Navy and during the Great War served as a Flight Commander with the Royal Naval Air Service, being commended for his service at Gallipoli in 1915 and later commanding No. 1 Squadron RNAS and then No. 8 Squadron RNAS. In 1919 he was commissioned permanently as a major in the Royal Air Force. After commanding the Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment, he was appointed Senior Engineering Staff Officer at Headquarters Coastal Area in 1931, Senior Air Staff Officer at Headquarters RAF Middle East in 1933 and Senior Air Staff Officer at Headquarters RAF Coastal Command in 1936. He served in WW2 as Air Officer Commanding No. 19 Group and then as Air Officer Commanding No. 247 Group before retiring at his own request in 1945.In 1945 he was appointed Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man and held this post until 1952. He died in 1983 at the age of 92.

British Boer War era Victorian 1887 Pattern Cavalry Officers' sword for a Regiment of Horse, sadly the etched scroll which identifies the exact regiment has been scuffed out. The sword has the patterns honey suckle hilt, etched fullered blade with crowned V.R. Cipher and scrolls, retaining most original polish in leather scabbard. The sword made by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London. In good condition with leather troddel.

Portugal, a stunning pair of original hand drawn design essays for the face and reverse of a 100 Escudos note, produced most likely Bradbury Wilkinson, the designs on brown paper applied to a paper backing are entirely hand drawn in pencil and watercolour, measuring 10.4cms x 13.2cms, there is a note in the bottom left corner referencing a 1922 note, and research suggests that this was likely produced in the 1920's, there are extensive annotations and notes in pencil around the designs, in fragile condition with two significant folds with tearing across the whole sheet left to right, and other areas of significant damage around the edge with tearing and pieces missing

South African Reserve Bank, an important and stunning original hand drawn design essay for the face of the 10 Pounds circulation note issued from 1952 to 1958, produced by Bradbury Wilkinson, date 1948 on the design, in pencil, ink and watercolour measures 9.8cms x 17.7cms, the design comprises some hand drawn elements on paper applied to card with other hand drawn elements applied as layers, the design is mounted on a grey backing card which has a protective cellophane cover applied, the tightness of the cellophane appears to be cupping the design quite a bit, and the cellophane is torn across the top left corner, the design itself appears in good condition with a few minor spots here and there and a little discolouration around the edges

Bank of Angola, two stunning original and important design essays for the face and reverse of a 50 Angolares bank note, this became a circulation note in 1944 with modifications, the art work done at Bradbury Wilkinson, the hard card backing laid with paper, both measuring 15.6cms x 9.0cms, glued to grey presentation backing card and laid on a larger thin blue card, the largely hand drawn designs in ink pen and watercolour, has an overlaid Bradbury Wilkinson transfer to the centre bottom of the reverse which is partially missing, with three pseudo signatures, the grey card surround contains pencil notes and design modification suggestions, overall good condition, some minor dirt but overall very good
