The essays all with handpainted backgrounds (including perforations and country name, value and "Modern Dairying" on the 5d essays, "Postage" and "Revenue" on the 2/6 essays), printed cut out proofs of the vignettes and Queen's head applied, all in differing colours, the Queens Head on the 5d essay the same portrait used in the adopted designs. The 2/6 essays with the value and "Shipbuilding" handpainted on the central vignette, all with a handpainted black surround, affixed to card bearing a label "Designed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. 1957 Unadopted stamp size handpainted essays from the papers of Bradbury Wilkinson engraver Derek Fry, all with a central view of Lake Tana or Tesissat Falls and a portrait of Haile Selassie, six essays on three pieces, one with an 8c essay of Lake Tana and three 35c essays of Tesissat Falls with differing frames and colours, another piece with a similar but smaller size 35c essay, the third with a differing 8c Lake Tana essay, two 35c essays with the Air Mail inscription. The first two pieces dated "10-4-57", the third with various endorsements comprising "sketch for an actual value, not 8c", "Make finished design", "Sketch Amharic title in border, as for the smaller design and larger". A Victorian silver swing handled fruit basket, mark of Henry Wilkinson & Company, Sheffield 1845, of circular fluted form, dished sides with decorative symmetrical pierced designs, beaded scrolled rim, scrolled swing handle, raised on a pierced and scrolled frame with four feet, 33cm diameter, 11cm high with the handle down, 1100.7g (35.5ozt)Overall in good condition with no obvious sign of damage or repair. Some surface scratches and nicks, as to be expected and commensurate with age and use. Handle hinge in good order and reasonably tight. Stands well on a flat surface with just a minor wobble. Minor dents to the field. Hallmarks clear and readable.

THREE BAYONETS AND A KUKRI STYLE KNIFE, these include a French Graf Bayonet, a 1907 Pattern Bayonet and a 1913 Wilkinson Bayonet, the three bayonets all come with scabbards, the Graf bayonet has its foundry name and date on the top edge of the blade, the 1907 pattern bayonet blade is fully stamped along with the broad arrow and WD, the Wilkinson bayonet is clearly stamped 1913, 12-16 and W, the handles on each bayonet could do with a clean and the scabbards on each one have surface rust that is in need of treatment, the Kukri comes in a scabbard but the blade is very pitted, Customers must satisfy themselves prior to sale in regards to conditions and authenticity, viewing is advised, condition reports are available on request
