A VICTORIAN SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS FIELD OFFICER'S SWORD, 87.5cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 15673 for 1868, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher, 78th HIGHLANDERS ROSS SHIRE BUFFS, regimental motifs and battle honours and owner's crest and initials and a maker's panel, regulation pierced steel hilt, red faced liner, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard, complete with knot, together with an associated painting of an officer of the 78th, Thompson in full dress uniform. A RARE 1907 PATTERN HOOKED QUILLON BAYONET BY WILKINSON, various Ordnance stamps to either side of the forte, the two-piece wooden grips stamped B B to either side, the pommel with unit markings 4.N.S.T.F - Fourth North Staffordshire Territorial Force (?) contained in its MKI scabbard and complete with 1916 dated frog.

SUTTON, FIRST LIFE GUARDS, RETAILED BY HENRY WILKINSON, PALL MALL, LONDON, NO. 42762 FOR 1910of regulation type, with etched blade decorated with scrolling foliage, the crowned Royal Arms, crowned Royal cypher, regimental details, the owner~s crest and motto and the retailer~s details, plated hilt with brass fittings, in its brass-mounted plaited scabbard with two rings for suspension; 94.0 cm; 37 in blade; ; The Wilkinson sword records state that sword no. 42762 was sold to R. F. Sutton, 1st Life Guards, 24th November 1910. The crest and motto are of the Sutton family of Scawby Hall, Lincolnshire.
