Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Fifth issue, Threepence, 1582/1, mm. Latin cross (?) on obv., sword on rev., bust 4D, 1.52g/6h (N 1998; S 2573). Very fine but some light double striking, very rare £150-£200 --- The obverse mintmark and overdate on this coin are both open to interpretation. DNW Archives lists only one such overdate on a Threepence and that is given as 1582/1/0 {DNW 82/187 part); unfortunately there is no image. Sixpences are more numerous, including specimens in the Bole, Cattermole and Wilkinson collections, one of which has an unaltered mm. Latin cross on obverse (DNW 92/342 part).

Crusader; A Vintage 9ct Gold Cased Gent's Wristwatch, the signed dial with Arabic numerals and seconds subsidiary dial, the movement stamped "Crusader" "Swiss Made", within plain cushion shape case (Birmingham 1940), to a later gilt metal brick link bracelet, in a vintage Martin Wilkinson Diamond Merchants & Silversmiths Mansfield fitted watch case, with Martin Wilkinson purchase receipt dated 30/11/40 and overhaul receipt dated 27/9/1975.The bracelet is gilt metal, total weight is 41 grams.
A RARE BLAKESLEE PATENT CARTRIDGE BOX COMPLETE WITH TEN METAL TUBES, CIRCA 1865-70 with leather-covered wooden core of hexagonal-section, embossed ‘BLAKESLEE'S CARTRIDGE BOX' in an arch over 'U.S./PAT'D DEC 20 1864/REISSUED FEB 7 1865’ and ‘W. H. WILKINSON MAKER SPRINGFIELD MASS. U. S.’, with hinged lid (cover tab incomplete), two metal suspension loops, strap, and the interior with ten tubes each for seven cartridges, 31.0 cm highErastus Blakeslee, of Plymouth, Connecticut patented his cartridge box 20th December 1864. It was made in three different sizes, holding six, ten or thirteen tubes each filled with seven metallic cartridges for the Spencer carbine. The cartridge boxes were cumbersome and the Civil War ended before significant numbers were delivered, they saw little use after this time.

A George V 1827 Pattern Naval Officer's Sword, the (possibly later) 80.5cm single edge fullered steel blade etched with GRV cypher, fouled anchor and scrolling foliage, the back edge stamped 02953, the brass gothic hilt cast with crowned fouled anchor, hinged guard, wire bound fishskin grip and lion head pommel, with bullion thread sword knot and brass mounted leather scabbard, 96.5cm, together with Wilkinson Sword crushed leather all weather protector.Footnote :- this sword belonged to Sub-Lieutenant Anthony A Frew (1927-1951), son of Engineer Rear Admiral Sydney Oswell Frew. He was a member of the crew of HMS Affray (P421), a British Amphion-class submarine which sank in the English Channel off Hurd Deep on the 17th April 1951 whilst on a training mission, with the loss of all life.
A Victorian 1887 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Officer's Sword by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, to Captain Arthur Rickards 1st King's Dragoon Guards, the 88cm single edge fullered steel blade crisply etched with crowned VR cypher, scrolling foliage, AR monogram and family crest, with maker's name and Proved poincon, the back edge stamped 14174, the pierced steel half basket hilt with wire bound fishskin grip, steel two ring scabbard and green baize slip case, 108cm, together with his framed commission dated 28th October 1868; a cabinet card portrait of him; a framed coloured lithograph "1st King's Dragoon Guards" with regimental badge and detailed history compiled August 1869; a framed Historical Record of the Middlesex Yeomanry Cavalry in which he is recorded as Lieutenant Colonel-in-Command (formerly Captain in the King's Dragoon Guards), a photocopy portrait of him in the uniform of the Eton Volunteers dated 1863 and stating that he carried the Royal Standard when Queen Victoria visited the school; and a photocopy of the entry in the order book of Henry Wilkinson showing the sword number and who it was made for "A.Rickards Esq."Footnote :- Captain Arthur Rickards, was born 5th March 1844 at Cumberland Terrace, Regents Park, and died 3rd May 1918. He married Emily Isadora Rowe, daughter of John Rowe of Ballycross, Wexford (one-time High Sheriff of County Wexford), on 19th July 1869 and they resided at Drayton House, West Drayton, Uxbridge. Blade is well greased which has gone dirty. Pitting to the hilt and scabbard which has three dents to one side.
A 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Sword by Thomas Gill, the 82cm single edge curved steel blade etched Thos. Gill, Warranted never to Fail at the ricasso, the steel stirrup hilt and scabbard in rust pitted relic condition, 98cm; a French M1892 Mannlicher Berthier First Pattern Bayonet, the 39.5cm steel blade with notches to each side at the ricasso, the steel hilt with hooked quillon stamped 74576, with horn grip scales, black painted steel scabbard stamped with differing number; a British No.4 Mk.II* Spike Bayonet, with steel scabbard; a Wilkinson Fraternity Sword, the blade etched with jouisting knights, the gilt cruciform hilt with wire bound black composition grip, lacks scabbard; a Moroccan Nimcha Short Sword, with 22cm scallop incised steel blade, diaper carved wood grip and scabbard (5)
A Second World War Commando Dagger, Second Pattern, the 7cm double edge steel blade with raised medial ridge, etched WILKINSON SWORD LTD., MADE IN ENGLAND, with nickel plated steel elliptical crossguard, nickel plated alloy ribbed grip and leather scabbard with nickel chape, 31cmGrey patching to the surface of the blade, with numerous small nicks to both edges. The pommel has three dings to the edge, a deep groove/scratch to the side. There are small dings to the extremities on the grip. The leather scabbard is missing its elasticated securing strap, the belt loop is broken on one side, and there are deep grooves to the surface of the leather. The chape has a number of small dents/scratches.
A good early 19th Century Irish violin by Thomas Perry and William Wilkinson, Dublin, with well figured one-piece back and ribs, fine-grained top with light amber varnish, stamped on the button 'No 2495' and 'PERRY DUBLIN', interior paper label also inscribed and numbered 2495, length of back 35.5cms, modern Tonareli case and two bows; together with the original receipt when it was purchased from Dr. M Crimble LTD, Belfast, on 23 Jan 1945.Notes: The Violin was formerly the property of Stan Smith, who started his career with the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra, which was disbanded in the 1950s. Having served in the RAF and studying at Trinity College London, he then dedicated the next forty years as principal first violin with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Stan can be heard on BBC Sounds recounting his time with the YSO.

A decorative Victorian silver caster. Henry Wilkinson & Co., Sheffield, 1850. The tapering body richly repousse decorated with leaves and raised on a shaped foot with flower and scroll border, the pierced cover with conforming foliate decoration and a knopped finial, 13cm high, approx. weight 3.4oztCondition Report: In good overall condition commensurate with age. Some light surface scratching and pitting. Some bruising noted to the footrim and the decoration on the cover. Some nicking along the rim and to cover. A small ding can be felt to one section of the cover, although this is not obvious to the eye and doesn't detract from the overall appeal of the piece. Some very small splits noted to the piercing under 10x magnification. Some wear to the decoration. (mainly at high points). Steady on foot. Marks partly rubbed but still legible, both to the caster and cover. Overall a good piece in good overall condition. INDIAN MUTINY INTEREST Major General Charles Simeon Thomason (The first President of the Piobaireachd Society). 1857 Pattern Royal Engineers officers dress sword by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London. The slightly curved engraved blade (81.5cm) detailed 'Bengal Engineers', with a pierced gilt brass hilt, wire bound fish skin grip, brass scabbard, with red leather full dress sword belt with hangers, gilt lace facing, and gilt buckle.Provenance: By family descent ( Brigadier General William Thomas Clifford Beckett CBE DSO VD 1862-1956 Bengal married. Bessie Thomason Daughter of Major General Charles Simeon Thomason)Commissioned in the Bengal Engineers in 1852 he returned to India, the place of his birth, in 1854. On 11th May 1857 he was in a hospital just outside the walls of the city of Delhi, because of this he was one of the few to survive the massacre and managed to escape at night by dog cart, taking a few of the other patients with him, and using his knowledge of the local water courses to enable their safe passage through the enemy lines. For the next three months, often alone and under fire from grape shot and snipers, he went out to survey the area around the walls to aid in the preparations for the storming of the city. On 14th September he was one of the few engineers to survive the blowing up of the Kashmir gate. Note: You must be over 18 to purchase this item. '31 July 1857This morning the firing being very heavy, four us went up to the Flag-Staff Tower. The alarm had been sounded from Hindu Raos. At this end, on the road below Flag-Staff Tower were Hodsons Plungers as his new Cavalry Regiment is called and the Jheend Horse. Went up to the Tower, The Horse Artillery officers there tried a gun (there are two light guns just under the Tower) at some Pandies who were out by Ludlow Castle. Thomason rode in, driven in from his survey by them. We came back to breakfast.' Condition Report: Blade is in good overall condition, hilt has minor signs of wear, mainly to the scroll, with and some oxidization to the inside, the scabbard has noticeable surface wear consistent with age and use, the sword belt is complete and in uncleaned condition.
