A Regency mahogany and inlaid card table, circa 1815, stamped ‘WILINSONS MOORFIELD LONDON PATENT’, the demi-lune shaped top with fluted edge opening to a baize inset, the base with a dual swing action, on four downswept ebony inlaid scrolling supports, on a rectangular base with four downswept legs, brass paw caps and castors, 72,5cm high, 88cm wide, 44cm deep. William and his cousin Thomas Wilkinson operated a successful cabinet making business at 9 & 10 Brokers Row, Moorfields. In 1807 William left to take over the old established firm of Quentin Kaye in Ludgate Hill. In the early to mid 1820s William brought his two sons William Ayscough Wilkinson and Charles Wilkinson into the business, which then changed its name from William Wilkinson, cabinet-maker and upholder, to William Wilkinson & Sons.
A Vic 1827 pattern rifle officer`s sword, almost straight, fullered blade 32½", by Wilkinson, no 6987 (for 1855) on backstrap, etched with crowned blank escutcheon, VR cypher, strung bugle, and wreath within tightly scrolled panels, owner`s crest in ornamental panel and name "I Morton Jeffery" on scroll, regulation steel hilt incorporating crowned strung bugle, stepped pommel and backstrap with chequered panel, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. GC (minor wear and pitting, some wear to grip fishskin, scabbard dented). Plate 9
A Vic 1897 pattern infantry officer`s sword, straight, fullered blade 32½", by Wilkinson, no 36146 (for 1898) on backstrap, etched with crowned R Arms, VR cypher and wreath within scrolled foliate panels, regulation pierced steel hilt incorporating crowned VR cypher, plain pommel, diced backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. GC (lightly cleaned overall, some grip wire missing)
An 1845 pattern infantry officer`s sword of The Rifle Brigade, almost straight slender fullered blade 32½", by Wilkinson (no no. on backstrap) etched with crowned VR cypher, "Rifle Brigade" and strung bugle within scrolled foliate panels, and owner`s coronet over "G" reversed "E" monogram, regulation triple bar brass hilt with traces of gilt, incorporating crowned VR cypher, turn down inner portion, in a plated (worn) scabbard with 2 rings. Basically GC (some wear, grip AF) Note: The sword of Lt Col the Hon Gilbert Elliot, ADC to Sir George Cathcart during the S African War 1852-53, and Dep Asst QMG to the 4th Division in the Crimea; details with lot.
A WWI Highland officer`s broadsword, claymore blade 32½", by Wilkinson No 54946 (for 1917) etched with crowned GVR cypher and thistle wreath within panels, pineapple finialled cross bar (pattern used by Black Watch and Gordon Highlanders), wirebound fishskin grip; domed fluted pommel, in its leather FS scabbard, with WM throat and steel chape with ball button tip. GC (minor service wear, grip wire loose) Plate 8
A Geo VI officer`s broadsword of The King`s Own Scottish Borderers, claymore blade 33", by Wilkinson no 67607 (for 1939), etched with crowned Geo VI cypher and regimental badge within thistle panels, and owner`s initials "AJR", regulation plated basket hilt with 4 bars and 5 pierced heart panels, fluted pommel, wirebound fishskin grip, red cloth and buff leather liner with some blue edging, crimson tassels, in its plated scabbard with 2 rings and ball chape button (minor plating wear). GC retaining much original finish overall. Plate 8

GC Plate 8 Note: The sword of Capt John George Rennie, Lt Black Watch, 1886, Capt 1893, served in Sudan (MID), and throughout the Boer War (MID, Queen`s medal, 5 clasps and King`s medal, 2 clasps,), was awarded the DSO in 1901 "In recognition of services during operations in South Africa". A 35 BORE GERMAN PERCUSSION SPORTING RIFLE WITH BARREL BY JAMES 1 WILKINSON, LONDON, CIRCA 1840. with signed browned twist heavy octagonal barrel of circa 1810, rifled with five grooves, stamped with the barrelsmith`s mark beneath, fitted with barleycorn fore-sight and folding ladder back-sight, case-hardened breech, engraved case-hardened breech tang decorated with foliage inhabited by a serpent, detented lock engraved with foliage around the border and a hound in pursuit of a stag, retained by a blued quick-release thumb-screw, and fitted with engraved case-hardened hammer en suite with the tang, double set trigger, highly figured walnut full stock cut with a shaped panel of chequering at the fore-end and the grip, carved raised cheek-piece (bruising and scratches, the fore-end with one small crack), finely engraved steel mounts comprising trigger-guard shaped for the fingers and incorporating an adjustable front guard, spurred butt-plate decorated with a stag, three moulded ramrod-pipes, and two sling swivels, silver scrolling side-plate inset with a vacant gold escutcheon beneath, oval escutcheon, silver barrel bolt escutcheons, horn fore-end cap (one small crack), and brass-tipped steel ramrod, perhaps the original. 76.5cm; 30 1/8in barrel. James 1 Wilkinson is recorded as Henry Nock`s foreman and succeeded him as Gunmaker in Ordinary to George III in 1805.

PERCUSSION BELT PISTOL BY WILKINSON, BIRMINGHAM PROOF MARKS, CIRCA 1850. with browned sighted barrels signed on the rib, tang of shaped outline, flush-fitting case-hardened back-action locks, the left lock fitted with steel belt hook, figured walnut three-quarter stock, brass mounts of regulation type, comprising trigger-guard, butt-cap fitted with a robust steel `skull crusher` of hog`s back form pierced for attaching to a rampart or perhaps a howdah, brass ramrod-pipe, original swivel ramrod, and with much early colour throughout. 37.5cm; 14 3/4in
