An early 20th century Burmese bowl,by Maung Yin Maung, Rangoon c.1910,stamped 'MAUNG YIN MAUNG MASTER SILVER SMITH 29 GODWIN ROAD RANGOON' to base, of circular form decorated in high relief with Jataka scenes with a frieze above of arching ‘clouds’ terminating in ogres' heads typical of the work of this silversmith,23cm diameter at widest, 20cm diameter at top of bowl, 15cm high, 37ozThis lot is sold with ‘Silver from the Indian Sub-Continent and Burma during Ninety years of British Rule', Wynyard R T Wilkinson, London 1999, where there is a similar bowl illustrated p.43.Mr Wilkinson writes that it was rare to find a piece signed in English, indicating that it was probably an exhibition piece.

An ERII troopers sword of the Household Cavalry, slightly curved, plated blade 34½”, by Wilkinson, no 128608, marked “8465 - 99 - 973 - 6888. WS (broad arrow) 99” on backstrap, plated pierced hilt incorporating crowned LG, plain pommel and backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, buff leather liner and knot, in its plated scabbard with 2 rings. VGC (minor nicks to tip of scabbard). Plate 9
A WWI officer’s sword of The Royal Artillery, almost straight fullered blade 35”, by Wilkinson no 50434 (for 1916) on backstrap, etched with crowned R Arms, Union wreath with GVR cypher and motto, cannon, winged lightning and “Royal Artillery”, plated triple bar hilt, stepped pommel, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, with knot, in its leather FS scabbard with frog. Near VGC the blade retaining its original finish, (rust speckles to hilt, mostly on the inside). Plate 9
