A Victorian 1887 Heavy Cavalry officer’s undress sword, mounted with plain infantry pattern blade 34½”, by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall (No 36970), steel hilt, silver wire bound fishskin covered grip, in its leather covered field service scabbard. Good Condition (grip fishskin worn off, blade pitting at tip, split to scabbard leather). Plate 21 Note: Wilkinson’s records show supplied to Thomas Morton Stanhope Pitt, 2nd Lieut 1st Dragoons 1894, Captain 1900, served South Africa War 1899-1902, present at Relief of Ladysmith, Colenso, Spion Kop, Tugela Heights etc, MID (General Buller), QSA medal 6 clasps, KSA medal, served WWI MID (July 1916 for Mediterranean Theatre), Italian Order of St Maurice and St Lazarus, granted Honorary Rank Brigadier General 1917. An ERII officer’s sword of the R Army Service Corps, almost straight fullered blade 33½”, by Wilkinson, no 95464 on backstrap, etched with crowned ERII cypher and wreath on both sides in scrolled Union wreath panels, plated hilt with sideloop and 2 sidebars to knucklebow, diced pommel and backstrap, wirebound grip, with leather knot, in its leather FS scabbard. VGC, and evidently seldom used. Plate 14

An 1821 pattern Light Cavalry officer’s sword of The 11th (Prince Albert’s Own) Hussars, named to Cornet George Ashby Maddock, slightly curved, fullered blade 34½”, by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, etched with crowned VR cypher on one side, and on the other crown “11” in “Prince Albert’s Own” and wreath, Sphinx and Egypt, and scrolls “Salamanca”, “Peninsula”, “Waterloo” and “Bhurtpore”, all in tightly scrolled panels, with owner’s crests and initials “GAM” in ornamental panel, regulation steel hilt with crossguard and quillon sideloop, knucklebow and 2 sidebars, forward sloping chequered pommel, plain backstrap with chequered thumbpiece, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. Good Condition the blade retains traces of original polish (dark patina to hilt and scabbard). Plate 21 Note: Cornet George Ashby Maddock born 1833/4, son of Rev. Wilkinson Sword Survival knife, blade stamped Wilkinson Sword Ltd. Registered Design Applied for, verso 27C/630/1, with associated sheath and letter from Wilkinson Sword stating that is is the Survival Knife issued to the Marines dated 28 August 1985. Blade length 7 ins, overall length 31.3 cm.

An 1845 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword to the West Yorkshire Regiment, 83cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 22513, etched with scrolling foliage and crowned VR cyphers, further etched C.P.B from J.M.B, regulation brass Gothic hilt with folding side guard and incorporating a crowned VR cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard. As at 1885 Charles Percival Barchard, 2nd Lieutenant 11 May 1878, Lieutenant 24th Jan 1880. Lieutenant Barchard served in the Afghan War in 1879-80 as Brigade Transport Officer 2nd Brigade Reserve Division, and subsequently as Orderly Officer to Brigadier General Sale Hill, Commanding 3rd Division Kyber Line Force (Medal) Captain 1st April 1886 served with the 1st Battalion Railway Pioneer Regiment during the Boer War.
An 1897 Pattern presentation sword to the 7th Bn The London Regiment, 82cm blade by Wilkinson etched to one side with a panel PRESENTED TO QUARTERMASTER-SERGEANT JAMES DUFFY BY THE OFFICERS, NCOS AND MEN OF F COMPANY 7TH (CITY OF LONDON) BATTALION THE LONDON REGIMENT AS A TOKEN OF THEIR APPRECIATION OF HIS SERVICES AS COLOUR SERGEANT. regulation pierced plated hilt incorporating a crowned GVR cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its plated steel scabbard.
A First War period 1912 Pattern Cavalry Officer's sword by Wilkinson, 89cm blade etched with scrolling foliage, owner's initials PAA, crowned GVR cypher's and stamped with the serial no. 51289 on the back edge (for 1914-17), regulation steel bowl guard, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard, complete with knot.
Possibly the largest Wilkinson Bowie knife in existence from the Ron Flook Collection, 33cm clipped back blade and measuring 5.5cm in width and etched WILKINSON PALLMALL LONDON in a scroll bordered panel above the forte, black painted metal crossguard and pommel cap, natural stag horn grip, contained in its leather sheath with black painted chape and leather belt loop. Probably a window or counter display piece and weighing 1.5kg or 3.3lb.
A Special Pattern 1897 Pattern Northumberland Fusilier's Officer's sword to Captain George E. Darley-Waddilove OBE later Major in the Bengal Army, 82.5cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 48795, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned GVR cyphers, regimental motifs, full battle honours and owner's name, regulation pierced plated steel hilt incorporating a crowned GVR cypher and applied with the regimental device of the Northumberland Fusiliers, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard.
A Victorian 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword to an Officer of the 82nd Punjabis, 82cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 37277, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned Royal arms and VR cyphers and the owner's name N.E. HOWELL, regulation pierced steel hilt incorporating a crowned VR cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard. Captain Howell was killed on the 7th of January 1916 at the battle for the relief of Kut.
