THREE ORIGINAL VICTORIAN WATERCOLOUR WILKINSON SWORD MAMELUKE DESIGNS, the first inscribed "1902 From the Cutlers Coy to General Sir J French" (Field Marshall John French (1852-1925), depicting a mameluke design with SOUTH AFRICA 1899-1900 various battle honours ELANDSLAAGTE KIMBERLEY PAARDEBERG and the regimental motif of the 19th Hussars, 73 x 24.5cm, the second a design for a mameluke most probably to General Sir Reginald Pole-Carew of the Coldstream Guards and depicting the battle honours AFGHANISTAN 1879-80 EGYPT 1882 BURMA 188?, 98 x 28cm, the last a design for a mameluke bearing monogram CA (or AC) and the battle honours MAFEKING NEW ZEALAND EGYPT, 99.5 x 29cm, all framed and with damage. A LARGE ENGLISH PAINTED CROWNED WOOD TRUNCHEON OR STAFF, 1816-1837, SUSSEX, carved crown finial, painted in gilt, red and green with the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom and inscribed SUSSEX in gilt on a dark green ground, 56.5 cm. Provenance: 2016-2023 Ian Wilkinson Collection; pre 2016 Arthur Holder Collection.
A WILLIAM IV PAINTED WOOD BALUSTER TRUNCHEON, 1830-1837, painted in polychrome with the 1816-37 Royal Arms of the United Kingdom and W IV R cypher, on a black ground, the handle painted red, 33.5cm. This truncheon has features associated with those of Manchester. Provenance: 2016-2023 Ian Wilkinson Collection; pre 2016 Arthur Holder Collection.
AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY MASONIC WALKING STICK, the white metal pommel unscrewing to reveal a small sword with 71.5cm tapering blade by Wilkinson and etched with Masonic emblems, wire bound brass grip, contained in its brass bound leather scabbard, all contained in the metal haft, lacking ferrule, 92cm over all.
A 19TH CENTURY BANDSMAN'S SWORD, blade lacking, regulation brass hilt with bold lion's head pommel, fixed in to its brass scabbard, together with a hospital orderly's sword, 76cm curved fullered blade, brass stirrup hilt, ribbed iron grip, scabbard lacking, a brass hilted cutlass by WILKINSON, scabbard lacking, and a reproduction Baker rifle bayonet and scabbard. A side cabinet with raised superstructure over pleated silk lined panelled doors, the righthand door stamped 'Wilkinson, Ludgate Hill and No. 7212', all standing on turned feet, 91cm wide x 39cm deep x 120cm highSigns of old repair and in need of some restoration, the left hand supporting pillar for the superstructure repair, losses to the veneer around the frieze above the cupboard doors, losses to the moulding between the door, losses to the moulding above the front left foot and around the upper left side and similarly the right side matching.
