A SCARCE AND GOOD EXAMPLE OF THE ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY PRESENTATION SWORD, 83.5cm pristine blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 28197, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher, maker's panel and the inscription PRESENTED TO GENTLEMAN CADET PERCY T. BOURNE ON OBTAINING HIS COMMISSION FROM THE ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY FOR HIS EXEMPLARY CONDUCT WHILST AT THE INSTITUTION 1887, regulation foliate pierced gilt hilt, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its plated steel scabbard, spotting and lifting. The blade is perfect, retaining all of its original polish and its matt etched ground.
A VICTORIAN CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD TO THE 10TH HUSSARS, 89cm slightly curved blade by Wilkinson, no serial no., etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher and regimental motifs, foliate and ladder pierced steel hilt applied with brass domed rivets and three brass tiger's heads, wire bound fishskin grip, leather liner. No scabbard.
A 1912 PATTERN CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD TO KIA CAPTAIN EDGAR RALPH COLES 3RD DRAGOON GUARDS, 88cm fullered blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 43661. etched with scrolling foliage, crowned Royal arms, crowned GVR cyphers and owner's initials E.R.C, some patination, regulation plated bowl guard, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard, complete with frog and straps. Associated research details that Captain Coles was MID and KIA during the second battle of Ypres near Hooge during the battle of Frezenburg Ridge.
A 1912 PATTERN INDIAN ARMY OFFICER'S SWORD, 88.5cm blade by WILKINSON etched with scrolling foliage, crowned Royal arms and GRI cyphers, further stamped with a broad arrow over I over ISD and the date 1931, regulation plated bowl guard decorated with scrolling foliage, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard dated 1915 and 1931, complete with knot. Knot strap split.
A ROYAL ARTILLERY OFFICER'S SWORD BY WILKINSON, 86cm slightly curved blade etched with scrolling foliage, crowned Royal Arms and regimental motifs, some staining, serial no. 53 274 for 1914-17, regulation steel three-bar hilt, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard.
A VICTORIAN POLICE SIDEARM OR SHORT SWORD, 57cm curved blade etched GILL'S Warranted, 6 Princes Street, Soho, London, regulation brass hilt with D-shaped knuckle guard, ribbed leather covered grip, together with an 1856 Pattern Pioneer's sidearm or short sword, 57cm saw backed blade by Wilkinson, dated 1856, regulation brass stirrup hilt with ribbed brass grip, guard cracked and quillon lacking. No scabbards. (2)
An officer’s sword of the Royal Dock Yard Battalion, 1847-56, slightly curved, fullered blade 32½”, by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, etched with crowned VR cypher in scrolled panels on one side and “Royal Dock Yard Battn” with crowned fouled anchor, in similar panels on the other, regulation copper gilt hilt with solid guard incorporating crowned, fouled anchor, turn down inner portion, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, copper wirebound fishskin grip. GC (no scabbard, minor wear and dark pitting to blade, guard slightly misshapen) Plate 8
