Scottish silver plated Regimental Officers dirk, decorated with embossed thistles, complete with knife and fork attachment, citrine finials. 29.5cm long blade by Henry Wilkinson, London. The Argyl and Sutherland Highlanders The dirk is in very good condition throughout with minor signs of wear and tear. There are no other noted marks on the dirk. The information regarding origin came directly from the vendor who is a longtime collector. Blade is marked 93.

Brass guard with Victorian crowned 'VR' cypher cartouche. Brass backstrap with stylised leaf decoration. Shagreen covered grip with twist wire binding (minor damage to covering). Contained in its steel scabbard with two loose rings. Throat mount absent. Illustrated

Laquered brass scabbard.

The Great War period 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword carried by Captain Norman Douglas Fourdrinier, 6th Battalion the Middlesex Regiment, of regulation form with blade etching incorporating George V cypher and 'N. D. FOURDRINIER', by Wilkinson and numbered 50060, with leather sword knot and in leather covered scabbard. Entered France 02/05/15. Entitled to 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory Medals as a Lieutenant. Wounded and issued Silver War Badge. Placed on the retired list "on account of ill health caused by wounds 13th September 1919"

AN 1897 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD TO THE 82ND PUNJABIS, 82cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 37277, etched with scrolling foliage, crowned VR cypher, Royal arms and owner's name N. E. HOWELL, regulation pierced steel hilt incorporating a crowned VR cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard. Captain Howell was killed in action on the 7th of January 1916 at the Relief of Kut.
A SCARCE 3RD BENGAL CAVALRY OR SKINNER'S HORSE TROOPER'S SWORD, 91.5cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 150 and also bearing an India stamp, regulation steel bowl guard also numbered 150 and applied with the letters and numbers 3BC in brass to the front, patent solid hilt with riveted two-piece chequered grips. Scabbard lacking. An example exists in the National Army Museum and bears the serial no. 462 on the blade and 463 on the steel mounted leather scabbard. Wilkinson manufactured 28 similar pieces though specifically for Officers.
A VICTORIAN PATENT SOLID HILT LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD TO THE FOURTH HUSSARS BY WILKINSON, 89cm fullered blade etched with scrolling foliage, regimental motifs, crowned VR cypher, crowned Royal Arms and the owner's initials A. G. C. B. and stamped with the serial no. 33047, regulation steel three-bar patent solid hilt, wire bound grip, contained in its field service scabbard. Complete with a copy of the Wilkinson Sword register entry, confirming the sword was made for A. G. C. Bruce of the 4th Hussars 26th February 1895. Bruce left the 4th Hussars after a very short period and later was the subject of a libel writ issued by Winston Churchill.
A SCARCE MOUNTAIN ARTILLERY SWORD TO THE 8TH MOUNTAIN BATTERY OF THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY, 77cm sharply curved blade by WILKINSON with various Ordnance stamps dating to 1902 on the back edge, regulation brass hilt with D-shaped knuckle guard and ribbed iron grip, the quillon stamped R.P.9.04 over 8.M.B over R.G.A OVER 04, contained in its brass mounted leather scabbard with various Ordnance stamps to the mounts and leather.
A 20TH CENTURY BANDSMAN'S SWORD, 64.5cm flattened diamond section blade by Wilkinson, characteristic brass hilt, the quillons with spatulate terminals and embossed with a flaming grenade and a Tudor rose, stamped with the number 28 at the forte, contained in its brass scabbard with frog stud.
A FIRST PATTERN F-S WILKINSON COMMANDO KNIFE OR DAGGER OF No.9 COMMANDO AND ST NAZAIRE INTEREST, 16cm flattened diamond section blade etched to the ricasso with the F-S and Wilkinson motifs, regulation hilt with recurved guard, the pommel stamped 30946 to one side and 412 to the other, chequered grip, contained in its leather scabbard. 30946 is the Field Force Unit Number for No. 9 Commando. Of particular note, amongst other landings, No.9 Commando formed part of the demolition teams that were involved in the St Nazaire raid. Belt frog repaired.
