A Victorian officer’s sword of The Royal Artillery, slightly curved, fullered blade 32" by Wilkinson, no 11276 (for 1861) on backstrap, nicely etched with crowned VR cypher on one side and winged lightning with scrolls “Royal” and “Artillery” on the other, all in tightly scrolled panels, with owner’s crest, motto and initials “CL” on one side at forte, steel hilt with knucklebow, sideloop and 2 sidebars, forward sloping stepped pommel, chequered thumbpiece to backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its scabbard with 2 rings; with photostat details of Sir Charles Larcom, including copy of entry in Wilkinson’s register for 1861, small head and shoulders photo in full dress, entry in Burkes Peerage, etc. Good Condition, a clean example. A similar sword (owned by McLoughlin’s son, who had both swords rehilted and plated en suite) straight fullered blade 32½” by Wilkinson, no 59040 (for 1921), etched on both sides with crowned Royal Arms, GVR cypher and wreath in scrolled panels, plated hilt and scabbard identical with previous lot, in leather case. †A George VI officer’s sword of The Highland Light Infantry, blade 32½” by Wilkinson, no 67292 (for 1938), with narrow fuller to centre section, etched with crowned GVIR cypher within thistle wreaths on one side and crowned regimental badge with “Highland” and “Light Infantry” within wreaths on the other, plated crossguard of regimental pattern with long langets, wirebound fishskin grip, in its leather field service scabbard with plated chape and throat mount. Good Condition (some wear and light pitting to blade). Plate 44
A Victorian officer’s sword of The Royal Artillery, very slightly curved blade 32½”, by Wilkinson, no 16237 (for 1869) on the backstrap, and etched with crowned VR cypher on one side and winged lightning with Norfolk Artillery Militia on the other, all in scrolled fenestrated panels, with owner’s crest and motto at forte on one side, triple bar steel hilt with sideloop, stepped pommel and backstrap with chequered thumbpiece, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings, and leather cover stamped Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London. Good Condition, the blade retaining much original finish. An Edward VII cavalry officer’s sword, very slightly curved, fullered blade 35" by Wilkinson, no 42335 (for 1909) on backstrap, etched in Union wreath panels on one side with crowned Royal Arms and on the other with crowned Ed VII cypher and owner’s initials “P.G.D”, Wilkinson’s “Patent Solid Hilt”, the semi bowl guard pierced with 1821 style “scroll pattern”, chequered pommel and backstrap, chequered composition grips, in its plated (minor wear and rust speckles) scabbard with 2 rings. Good Condition (minor wear to blade and light pitting to hilt).Plate 38
An interesting Victorian infantry officer’s 1845 pattern sword with steel hilt, slightly curved fullered blade 32½”, by Wilkinson, no 9365 (for 1858), etched on both sides with crowned VR cypher in foliate scrolled panels, steel hilt of regulation pattern incorporating crowned VR cypher, stepped pommel and backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings; with extensive photostat material showing the sword with “steel gilt hilt” was sold to Edward Gunter, 59th Regt, in November 1858, full details and diary extracts for Gunter, who retired at Lt. Col in 1888 and subsequently served as Deputy Assistant Adjutant General (Canada), etc. Good Condition. Plate 38 £300-400
An interesting officer’s sword of The R Army Medical Corps, almost straight, fullered blade 32½”, by Wilkinson, no 30276 (for 1890) on backstrap, etched with flat topped crown and VR cypher with wreath, on both sides, in foliate geometric panels, owner’s name “G S McLoughlin” (of the R.A.M.C) in scroll at forte on one side, plated infantry pattern hilt with GVR cypher (c. 1934 “when the RAMC finally changed over to the pattern 1897” sword, Robson p245), chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its plated scabbard with 2 rings, and leather case (worn); 2 studio photographs, photostat and other details of George Somers McLoughlin (1867-1943) who served with the RAMC in E. Africa, the Boer War, WWI and Staff appointments, and was awarded the DSO and made a CMG, from 1890 - 1922, retiring with the rank of Major General; see also next lot. Very Good condition. Plate 45
A .451” percussion sporting rifle by Wilkinson, Pall Mall, 46½” overall, round barrel 30½” with military pattern ladder rearsight, the flat topped breech engraved “Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London”, the breech tang with later mount for target sight; the lined Enfield fore end and wrist, and steel mounts including scrolled trigger guard. Good Working Order and Condition (barrel worn, breech vent welded, patched repair to fore end, fore sight missing, ramrod replaced). Plate 49
A fine World War I Admiralty prize dirk, blade 18" double edged towards point, by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London and retailed by Gieve, Matthews & Seagrove Ltd, London Portsmouth & Devonport, etched with crowned fouled anchor on one side and crowned GVR cypher with presentation inscription “Admiralty Prize, Seamanship R.N. College, Keyham, 1916, Cadet Capt. J.G. Deneys”, gilt hilt with applied fouled anchor in crowned wreath to crossguard with acorn finials, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound white sharkskin grip, with dress knot (minor wear) in its gilt mounted leather scabbard with locking catch to guard and 2 opposing rings. Etched blade 28.5" engraved with stand of Arms, ricasso with double headed Eagle. This may be the Wilkinson 200th Anniversary U.S. Independence Sword (A limited edition of 1000) Wirebound grip. Very well made (no scabbard, made without). Lovely item.

Sword: An 1827 Pattern Rifle Officers sword by Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall, London. Top of blade numbered '10716' (Number shows year of manufacture as 1860) Etched blade with Victorian Crown and '8th L.R.V.' (8th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers) Panel on blade etched with owners name 'W. HARPER'. Blade 32.5", steel hilt with strung bugle device, wirebound fishskin hilt (handling wear). In its steel mounted leather scabbard. Note * William Harper's career through the Gazettes is sold with the sword.
Sword: An Infantry Officers sword Pattern 1845/54 by Henry Wilkinson. Ricasso with Pall Mall address. Fullered blade 33" with VR Crown & Rifle Officers strung bugle (Rifle Volunteers?) Top of blade numbered '24205' for 1881. 1854/Patt Gothic Brass hilt with non folding guard. In its steel scabbard. Areas of light pitting (largely to scabbard). Grip wirebound fishskin (latter worn). Sound condition overall, researchable and will improve with cleaning.
*Fighting Knife. A fine presentation knife by Wilkinson Sword Ltd, circa 1946, the 17 cm steel blade etched 'Hand forged by Tom Beasley The Famous Sword Smith of Stalingrad Sword Fame' (in three banners), reverse with Wilkinson markings and 'Commando Fighting Knife World War 1939-1945' with initials 'P.R.H.', brass crossguard, amber celluloid grip and gilt metal top nut, 29.5 cm overall, in its black leather scabbard with brass mounts Presented to Peter Richard Hall who served during WWII with the Royal Air Force. These knives were produced in 1946 and 1947 to promote the Wilkinson's 'Empire Razor' campaign. There are three versions of this knife with the 'three banner' being the first type. Tom Beasley knives were made for showroom displays. The "Stalingrad Sword" was presented by George VI to Joseph Stalin in honour of the Russian troops defence of the city of Stalingrad. (1)

*Sword. A WWI Officer's sword belonging to Colonel P.H. Teesdale, DSO, MC by Henry Wilkinson Serial Number 44191, the 80cm slightly curved blade etched with Royal Pennant and insignia of the Royal Artillery, the forte etched 'Patent Solid Hilt Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London' with owner's initials P.H.T., and Teesdale family crest with the motto 'Animae Ca Paces Mortis', plated triple-bar guard, diced bakelite wire-bound grip, stepped pommel with brown leather sword knot, 105cm overall, in its plated scabbard with leather sword bag bearing owners initials Colonel Philip Herbert Teesdale, D.S.O., M.C. (1894-1976) was born in Eltham, Kent, he passed out from the Royal Military Academy in 1913, and purchased this sword on gaining his first commission of 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery, he served on the Western Front from 1 October 1915, Twice Mentioned in Despatches on 4 January 1917 and 16 March 1919, awarded the Distinguished Service Order and Military Cross. Post War service saw him serving with Mountain Artillery, Indian Army, he re-engaged for WWII service in 1939, he was badly wounded in North Africa whilst commanding the Field Regiment in the Knightsbridge Battle and following the retreat to the Alamein Line he was given the task of reforming 95th Anti-Tank Regiment which was mauled at Gazala. He remained in the command until 1943 when he was promoted to Colonel and put in command of B-Anti Tank Group which consisted of five regiments. (1)

Wilkinson Sword Operation Desert Storm Commemorative Fairbairn Sykes (F.S.) Commando Knife, one side of the blade is etched to the centre Operation Desert Storm 17th January 1991 within scrolls and other side etched Her Majesty’s Armed Forces Defending World Freedom within scrolls. Base of the blade etched with Wilkinson Sword trade mark and the other side with FS logo. 110 etched to lower section of one side of the blade. Black ribbed one piece handle. Housed in the original leatherette presentation box with Wilkinson Sword details imprinted to the interior lining. Mint condition.
Wilkinson Sword Victory In The Falklands Commemorative Fairbairn Sykes (F.S.) Commando Knife, blue and gilt etched double sided blade, one side etched with scene of Royal Marine standing by the raised Union Jack flag with Victory in the Falklands on a scroll and Wilkinson Sword trade mark, other side of the blade is etched with a scene of soldiers in combat. Gold plated one piece ribbed hilt. Housed in the original presentation box with printed quote from Major General Jeremy Moore and Wilkinson logo. Mint condition.
Wilkinson Sword Commemorative Fairbairn Sykes FS Commando Knife 50th Anniversary of the FS Fighting Knife (1940-1990). The knife is an exact copy of the long cross guard 1st pattern commando knife. Blade is etched with foliage and scrolls with the base having Wilkinson Sword makers mark, the other side of the blade having the FS mark. Dagger is housed in the original green leatherette case. Dagger remains in mint condition.
A rare Wilkinson 'Boy Blue' milk jug with striped body and brown curly hair, stamped 'Honeyglaze' to the base, height 10cm. CONDITION REPORT Visible crazing to the body and two hairline cracks which are 2-3cm each. This lot was previously offered at Bonham's in 2005 (full details are available on request).
