A WWI 1821 pattern R Artillery officer’s sword, very slightly curved, fullered blade 35”, by Wilkinson, No 48022 on backstrap, etched with crowned R Arms, GVR cypher in Union wreath with “Ubique” scroll, cannon, winged lightning and “Royal Artillery” in scrolled floral panels, with owner’s name “Geo A Ogden, Feb 1915” in plain panel near forte, regulation triple bar hilt with stepped pommel, chequered backstrap and wirebound fishskin grip, in its leather FS scabbard. GC, the blade retains some original finish (pitting patches to edges, hilt plating rusted). Plate 9

An interesting Rifle officers pattern sword, evidently made to advertise Wilkinson’s swords in Arab states, fullered blade 29”, with Wilkinson logo on one side at forte and “Supplied by Blackwell Young & Co London” on the other, blackened panel on both sides of blade with Arabic inscription overall and date 1962 (AD) 1382 (AH), plated hilt with Wilkinson logo in place of strung bugle, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its plated scabbard with 2 rings. GC (plating AF)
