A 19th Century mahogany and inlaid spinnet or square piano by Wilkinson & Co, of London, now converted to writing or dressing table with pull out sliding section enclosing three secret compartments flanked by two side drawers, raised on slender turned and ringed tapering legs, 166 cm wide x 59.5 cm deep x 80 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Areas of inlay missing throughout. There are some scratches and marks throughout. There has been a repair to a crack on the top right hand corner as well as another crack slightly lower down. Some areas of the fretwork decoration are missing, faded throughout. Cracks to the wood panels on the inside of the spinnet. Areas of moulding missing. Patching to the veneer. Sound, a little wobbly due to the design i.e. slender legs and possibly because it is on a carpet. General wear and tear conducive with age and use - see images for more detailsWhilst basically sound, the piece is obviously a conversion from square piano or spinnet to its present state as a side/dressing table. The drawers all appear to work fine as does the pull out slide with three section drawer. There are areas of wood filling to the right hand side top and clear marks where the rising compartments were top left and top right. There are further signs of repair possibly conducted when the conversion took place. The legs appear to be sound

In a fitted travel case complete with field service brown leather scabbard and a further dress scabbard. Sold together with a related print after Ken Howard, which includes the original owner with this sword depicted to the top centre.Provenance: Owned by 2nd Lt A.T. Shaw, 1st Battalion, Queen's Own Highlanders.Please note that the successful bidder must be over the age of 18 and show proof of ID.Condition:Case length 114cm x 28cm. Sword blade length 82cm, overall length 92cmCondition overall is generally very good. There is some white residue near the tip of the blade and some further blemishes to the bottom third of the blade, but the engraving is in very good condition. The ferrule is a little dry. There is one small scuff mark to the leather scabbard. This sword would have seen little use because the owner transferred to another regiment after a short time.The leather handle on the case has some wear and cracking from handling.
