A George V officers’ broadsword of The Royal Scots Fusiliers, claymore blade 31½”, by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, numbered 58263 (1920), and etched with crowned GVR cypher, “Royal Scots 1678/ regimental badge/ 1252 Fusiliers” and 64 battle honour scrolls, plated hilt, the 5 panels pierced with hearts, screw on pommel cap, wirebound fishskin grip, red and blue hilt lining with crimson tassels and blue silk tails, in its leather scabbard with plated chape and throat. A Wilkinson sword to commemorate the 25th Anniversary (Silver Jubilee) of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, plated colichmarde blade 31½” gilt etched with roses, thistles, shamrock and daffodils, pierced and gilt guard, enamelled gilt hilt the pommel comprising a crown set in a circle of brilliants, in its mahogany table top display case with engraved silver gilt plate inscribed “The Queen’s Coronation 1953, 25th Anniversary Commemorative Sword. No 042 of a Limited Edition of 100” The gilt plate with silver hallmark FB & Co London 1978; Very Good Condition. Plate 22
A cased 5 shot 54 bore Tranter’s patent double action percussion revolver, 11½” overall, barrel 6”, with London proofs, the top strap engraved “Wilkinson & Son, Pall Mall, London”, frame engraved “No 21756T”, with deeply chequered walnut butt. Good Working Order and Condition, retaining traces of original blued finish; in its original green baize lined fitted mahogany case with circular brass escutcheon in lid and Wilkinson & Son trade label, containing double cavity 54 bore bronze mould stamped “Tranters Patent”, bag shaped copper flask by Hawksley, with original lacquered finish, brass mounted cleaning rod, ebony handled turnscrew, Joyce cap tin with labels, and Hawksley pewter oil bottle (minor damage to case, no key). A Clarice Cliff "Fantasque" Wilkinson pottery miniature trinket dish, a Carltonware preserve pot and cover and two Carltonware preserve dishes CONDITION REPORTS The Clarice Cliff dish has some light general wear but overall appears OK. Other items with some crazing and wear. Small frit to foot rim. Some little nicks.
x Bermuda Government, 1 shilling, 1 March 1939, serial number W 200008, green, pink and red-orange, head of George VI in circular frame at right, value in green rosette at left, reverse blank (Pick 6, BG B6, Aspen p.193), perforated CANCELLED, uncirculated and an exceptional rarity. Only 300000 printed due to the expected shortage of coin during Wartime. The notes were printed by Bradbury Wilkinson and delivered to Bermuda in May 1939. The coinage shortage never materialised and the notes were destroyed. It is believed approximately eleven sets survived. Uncirculated and very attractive VAT Status: Import 5% View Terms & Conditions
x Bermuda Government, specimen 10 shillings, 1 April 1943, serial number F/4 000000, red, pink and pale orange and lilac, head of George VI in oval frame at centre, Gates Fort below, the signature of the Colonial Treasurer, R.A.Kelly and the Assistant Colonial Treasurer G.L.Young at right, reverse red and green, arms at centre, value at left and right (Pick 13As, BG BG14s, Aspen unlisted), perforated, lightly handled otherwise almost uncirculated and possibly unique. In 1943 upon the departure of John Trimingham it was proposed to replace him with R.A.Kelly who was based in London at the time instead of the expected promotion of Gerald Young. Accordingly Kelly signed the notes for the printers Bradbury Wilkinson and the 10 shilling and the £1 were produced prior to the expected issue of currency of 1943. Sadly Kelly died before he could take up the post and the notes were scrapped. No other examples are believed extant. Excessively rare and desirable VAT Status: Import 5% View Terms & Conditions
x Bermuda Monetary Authority, specimen $5, 20 February 1989, serial number B/1 300487 with red SPECIMEN overprint, purple, violet and pale green, Elizabeth II at right wearing Grand Duchess Vladimir`s tiara, conch shell at centre, signatures of Charles Mann and Richard Butterfield (printed on a silver foil strip), reverse purple and blue-green, the lighthouse on Saint David`s island, Saint George harbour at right, also $5 (8), serial number B/1 000006 and 000082/83/84/85/86/87 and 000579 (Pick 35as,a, BMA B9as,a), a fascinating story behind this issue. The original series for this issue had the signature of Edgar Wilkinson but due to an enforced resignation the signature area was overprinted with silver foil and Richard Butterfield`s signature overprinted. AN 1822 PATTERN PRESENTATION SWORD AND SCABBARD OF THE ROYAL MARINE ARTILLERY the etched pipe backed 79cm blade inscribed JOHN P.N.F. CLAPPERTON R.M.A. TO G A SCHOMBERG R.M.A. WEST COAST OF AFRICA FEBY 13TH 1845 and with VR cipher, fused grenade, crest and motto Persevere, the reverse also etched and with sword cutler`s signature DUDLEY GRAND PARADE PORTSMOUTH, the hilt incorporating VR cipher on fused grenade, the gilt brass mounted black leather scabbard signed as the blade and an 1822 Pattern infantry officer`s sword, with single fullered 1845 Pattern Wilkinson type etched blade, signed for Selby, Portsmouth (3) Provenance: (first sword) Presented to General Sir George Augustus Schomberg, KCB (1821-1907) by John Philip Nelson Forrest Clapperton. In a distinguished and lengthy military career Sir George Schomberg served on the coast of Africa, 1844-46. Sword - in generally good condition with light pitting and rather dirty. The hilt painted with a hammerite metal bronzing paint, the folding guard original and still functioning. Scabbard - the leather powdery, all the mounts present and retaining most of the gilding but somewhat dull and scratched, especially the chape. Second sword - blade heavily pitted and rusted with a few nicks. The retaining most of the original gilding although extremely dirty, the hinged guard working retaining the remains of a sword knot, both kept for many years in an attic and entirely unrestored
