British 1912 pattern Cavalry officer's sword by Wilkinson, blade no 48167 for 1915, GVR, 15th Hussars motif and ABS to 89cm decorated blade. ABS being the owner Arthur Smith's initials, who served with the 15th at the Battle of Ypres in 1915, where he was wounded. Scottish Regimental 72nd Highlanders 1828/1931 pattern Highland Infantry officer's broadsword with shagreen hilt and detachable bun pommel by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, serial number 23061. The 82cm decorated blade with Duke of Albany's 72nd Own Highlanders and inscribed 'Presented to 2nd Lieutenant William Greer, 72nd Highlanders by his former comrades the sergeants of the regiment on his promotion to that rank as a mark of respect, Camp Alikheyl (Alikhil), Afghanistan 30th April 1879', the steel scabbard with ball chape. 2nd Lieutenant Greer received his promotion following an act of gallantry, an extract from the 72nd Highlanders Records of Service reads 'The right wing of the 72nd formed part of the force under General Roberts which marched from Ali Khel on the 12th Dec. for Fort Kuram, and which, in the early morning of the 14th, was attacked by Mangals in the Sapiri defile. In the protracted rear-guard fight which took place on that day, four non-commissioned officers and men of the regiment worthily acquitted themselves, in defending Captain F Goad, Assistant Superintendent of Transport, who was mortally wounded, from his assailants; keeping vast numbers of the enemy at bay till relief arrived. William IV silver chamber stick of small proportions (probably from an inkstand), with acanthus leaf boarders and separate snuffer with integral chain, (Sheffield 1831), maker Henry Wilkinson & Co, together with three George III silver coffee spoons (London 1817) (4).Total gross weight is 115 grams (the base is filled). An 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword, Wilkinson Sword Ltd, Serial No 83860, the blade etched EIIR with inscription PRESENTED TO R.S.M. F.V.H. LYNCH BY THE W.O'S AND SGTS 7TH BN. THE WORCESTERSHIRE REGIMENT (T.A.) 12TH MARCH 1962, leather covered service scabbard and sword bag, blade 82cm l Provenance: Lt Col Frederick Victor Henry ("Joe") Lynch, M.B.E. (1927-2005) was conscripted into the Army in 1947. Over the ensuing 37 years he saw service in post War Berlin (during the Siege), elsewhere in Germany, Singapore and Malaya, the West Indies, Gibraltar and Cyprus. He represented his Battalion at tennis and squash and played cricket, hockey and soccer for the Sergeant's Mess. According to the regimental history, Lt Col Lynch "was a much feared R.S.M. and his personal standards of discipline and fitness were always of the highest. He was one of only three R.S.M.'s to reach the rank of Lieut-Colonel". ConditionGood condition

Susan Dobson (contemporary, North East) "Northern Fells", polychrome print, artist's proof, pencil signed and dated 1990, in card mount and antiqued silvered frame under glass, 55 cm x 70 cm framed. [After teaching and examining Art and Design for over fifteen years in several high schools in Newcastle upon Tyne, Susan became a self-employed artist/print maker in 2002. She moved into her current studio in 2003. Since then she has exhibited widely across northern England and Scotland, as well as participating regularly in Northumberland's open studio event, The Art Tour. She was also a member of the Art Tour Steering Group (2000 - 2007). She is a member of Northern Print and has continued to develop her printmaking practice through courses in new techniques. A Victorian silver chamberstick with acanthus leaf decoration and scrolling C handle, on a loaded base (by Henry Wilkinson & Co., Sheffield 1850), total weight 3.6 oz, 12.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Has several holes to the main body as well as a repair to the handle at the base and several other repaired holes throughout. A drip tray with present with same hallmarks, as is the snuffer, which again has a couple of holes. There is wear to the embossed decoration. General wear and tear conducive with age and use. The documentary mug with a star crack to the underside of the base. The small Royal Doulton dog with a chip to both front feet. The Bainsfather with a repaired break to the handle. The green Doulton dog is grubby, a couple of slight surface scratches but generally ok.
