Samuel Berry is recorded in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as being admiited as an apprentice in 1698, gaining his Freedom of the Clockmakers’ Company in 1705 and working until 1743.

GWR 12" mahogany cased Trunk Clock with fusee movement in original, working condition, ex Templeton station. The dial has been repainted in post 1948 BR-W style and the case bears the ivorine plate `BR-W 4639. The brass bezel is missing but is easily replaced. Complete with winding key and pendulum.

A Chinese bamboo prunus libation cup, 18th century, imitating a rhinoceros horn example, with a silvered copper liner, the exterior naturalistically carved to simulate a tree trunk, around which branches blossom, the liner damaged, 16cm wide. Cf. L Tam, Chinese Bamboo Carving Part II, Hong Kong Museum of Art, p. 254 for a similar example.
A Chinese celadon jade Three Friends of Winter vase, 18th century, carved as two sections, one a pine trunk, the other prunus, each with gnarled branches of needles and blossoms, at the base a phoenix stands on rocks and on a lingzhi fungus, and with a leafy bamboo stem to the reverse, 12.5cm. Provenance: from an important European private collection formed in the 19th century by a Russian nobleman and diplomat.

A 19th Century oak long case clock, of tall and narrow proportions, the 25cm square brass dial having corner spandrils of cherubs and crowns, supporting an 8 day movement striking on a bell, full length trunk door above a box base and plinth, 236cm high x 41cm wide (in extremes) N.B. This clock was originally owned by the late Mr Graham Baron Ash of Packwood House, Warwickshire and Wingfield Castle in Suffolk. The clock was later acquired by the late Mr H. Wint of Etheridge Nurseries, Stradbroke in the 1970`s
