A 19th Century and later mahogany longcase clock with an eight-day movement, the hood and trunk with decorative pilaster supports enclosing the 12" brass broken-arch dial with strike / silent indicator, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, bears signature and date - "Wm. Travers, London, 1803", later repairs and alterations, S/D, 50cm wide and 214cm high. ILLUSTRATED
An early 19th century country oak longcase clock the enamelled Roman Numeral dial signed `Gudgeon Bury`, within painted floral spandrels, with subsidiary seconds and date aperture, the hood with gilt brass eagle finials on reeded pedestals, united by pierced scrolled brackets, to a moulded pediment over a square window with fluted canted corners on gilt brass stiff leaf mounts, the trunk with reeded edges and a rectangular door with gilt brass escutcheon, to a plain panelled base on bracket feet united by a wavy apron, 82.5in. (209.5cm.) high.
A Louis Vuitton cabin trunk 1920s, covered in the famous LV monogrammed fabric with remnants of original travel labels including Cunard White Star, with `LV` tooled leather edging, wooden lid banding, and brass corners, catches and lock, the fabric lined interior with Louis Vuitton branded webbing inside the lid and original orange & gilt paper label, no. `792218`, lacks inner tray, complete with the rare and original canvas and leather outer case, the sides with stencilled lettering, `RWH`, 32 x 18.5 x 14in. (81 x 47 x 35.5cm.) * This trunk was originally owned by Robert Hathaway, second husband of Dame Sibyl Hathaway, and was probably purchased in New York. The sides of the outer case bear his initials, `R.W.H.`.

James Harrington, Ipswich An early burr yew longcase clock, the eight day duration movement having ringed & knopped pillars and striking the hours on a bell, the 12 inch square brass dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, fleur-de-lys half hour markings and the maker’s name ‘James Harrington, Ipswich’, with the matted dial centre having ringed winding holes and date aperture with florally engraved surround, blued steel hands, wheatear border engraving and ‘female head’ cast spandrels to the four corners, the burr yew case with a lenticle glass to the trunk door, chevron style crossbanding to the trunk door & base and a fretwork frieze to the flat top hood with brass capitals to the hood pillars, height: 230cm. * James Harrington is recorded as working in Ipswich, Suffolk in the late 17th/early 18th century. He was born in the west of county and after the death of his first wife married Martha Jowers at Lavenham in February 1729, with his will dated the 13th of October 1729 and proved after his death on he 16th of February 1730. As there were no children from either marriage the beneficiaries were his executor (his brother) and his widow.

Cockings, Bridgewater A mahogany longcase clock, the eight day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the 11 inch arched painted dial having black Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and painted floral decoration to the corners and arch, the falseplate embossed with the dialmaker’s name ‘Finnemore & Sons, Birmingham’, the mahogany case having ebony & boxwood stringing to the base and door, canted corners to the trunk, fluted pillars with cast brass capitals to the hood and a swan neck pediment, height 210cm. * William Cockings is recorded as working in Bridgewater, Somerset from before 1860. * William Finnemore was one of the leading makers of longcase clock painted dials recorded in Birmingham from 1812 and was joined by his sons, William jnr and George in 1828 and were known to be still working together after 1846.
Rob Fulford, Plymouth Dock A mahogany longcase clock, the eight day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, having a 12 inch silvered brass dial engraved with black Roman numerals, cherubic four-season decoration to the four corners and maker’s name ‘Rob Fulford, Plymouth Dock’ to the centre, with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the arch engraved with a depiction of a ho-ho bird, the arched top mahogany case having boxwood stringing to the trunk door and base with ‘Prince of Wales’ feathers inlaid to the trunk and base, with fluted canted corners to the trunk and fluted pillars to the hood, height 230cm. * Robert Fulford, Plymouth Dock (now Devonport), married Mary Clark at Stoke Damerel parish church on the 21st of November 1785.
Thomas Nevitt, Bristol A mahogany moonphase longcase clock, the eight day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the 12 inch arched brass dial having a silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute numerals, the matted centre having engraved floral decoration, a subsidiary seconds dial engraved with the maker’s name ‘Thos. Nevitt, Bristol’, and date aperture, with cast brass ‘floral & rococo’ spandrels to the four corners, the arch having a moon phase disc with the arch showing ‘High Water at Bristol Key’, with blued steel hands, the mahogany case having a plain base with fluted, canted corners to the trunk, typical Bristol shaped moulding to the top of the trunk door, a swan neck pediment with dentil moulding below and fluted columns with brass capitals to the hood, height 132cm. * Thomas Nevitt is recorded as working in Temple Parish, Bristol becoming a burgess, through marriage, in 1754. He was known to be still working in 1784 when he is recorded in the Poll book.
William Young, Dundee A mahogany longcase clock, the eight day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the 13 inch painted arched dial having black Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dials to the centre, gilt and floral decoration to the four corners, painted decoration within the arch depicting a female and cherub in a field and signed below VI o’clock with the maker’s name ‘Wm. Young, Dundee’, the mahogany case having a panelled base with oval mouldings set within, boxwood & ebonised stringing, quartered columns to the trunk, octagonal pillars, with brass capitals, to the hood and a swan necked pediment with brass patrae and a brass ‘ball & eagle’ finial, height 230cm, inc. finial. * William Young is recorded as working in the High Street, Dundee from 1805 until 1845 when it is known he moved to Murraygate until at least 1848 whilst living in Union Street. He was succeeded on his death by his son.
James Tranter, West Bromwich An oak & mahogany moonphase longcase clock, the eight day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the 14 inch painted arched dial having black Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dials to the dial centre, painted female four-season decoration to the corners and having a moonphase disc within the arch, signed to the dial centre ‘Jos. Tranton, West Bromwich’, with decorative brass hands, the oak and mahogany case having shell inlay to the door, base and panel below the short door, with various styles of inlaid stringing and crossbanding, with the fluted quartered columns to the trunk having brass capitals, the mahogany veneered hood having a swan necked pediment and fluted pillars, height 230cm. * James Tranter of West Bromwich, Staffordshire is recorded as working circa 1810. The name has obviously been mis-spelt during restoration of the dial.
J.B. Dancer, Manchester An oak stick barometer, the aslant bone dials having two vernier scales showing ‘10 A.M. Yesterday’ and ‘10 A.M. Today’ with the left hand side engraved with the maker’s name ‘J.B. Dancer, Manchester’, the right hand scale engraved ‘Add one tenth for each ninety feet above the sea’, both with wind indication, with a bone thermometer set within the trunk, the oak case having a castellated top and Gothic carved mouldings, height 100cm. * John Benjamin Dancer is recorded as working at 13, Cross Street, Manchester, from before 1841 until after 1845 and was ‘By appointment to Her Majesties Commissionaires’.
A George III figured mahogany longcase clock of eight-day movement striking on a bell, the painted arch dial with Arabic chapter and seconds dial, signed Hargrave, Bawtry, painted with agricultural workers and religious images to the arch, the inlaid hood with swan neck pediment, turned pilasters with gilt metal foliate capitols, the trunk with serpentine arch to door, inlaid with paterae and with canted sides on bracket feet, 235cm high.
