Dimensions: Height 6,2 cm Wide 4 cm Depth 2,3 cmWeight: 76,4 grams The Remover of Obstacles wearing a short striated dhoti, sacred thread around his portly waist, richly adorned with fine ornaments, wearing a conical tiered head dress. His principal right hand with the end of his broken tusk and his left hand holding a delicacy which he samples with his trunk, the upper hands holding a goad and noose. Finely cast standing on one foot in a dancing posture atop an oval pedestal supported on lotus lappets resting on a stepped square base.
Dimensions: Height 23 cm Wide 15 cm Depth 11 cm without baseWeight: 3909 grams with base Finely carved probably in a dancing pose, with two arms, the right broken, the left holding his sweets. The trunk extended toward the left side, his face with almond-shaped eyes and neatly incised arched brows, the head surmounted by an elaborate crown. Known as the Remover of Obstacles and worshipped for auspicious beginnings, Ganesha is a beloved Hindu deity. Regardless of his elephant head, his character is clever and his body remarkably agile. Like the other Hindu gods, Ganesha manifests a variety of appearances, always recognizable by his elephant head. The theme of the dancing Ganesha, in which he follows in the footsteps of his father, Shiva Nataraja, also captivated the sculptors of Central India, who produced some of the liveliest examples between the 8th and 11th centuries, the present lot however being in no way inferior to such pieces. Dimension: Height 23 cm ; Wide 26 cm ; Depth 11 cmWeight: 3075 grams Bronze elephant, depicted kneeling on a rectangular pedestal adorned with a row of small lotus motifs along its edge. Saddle-like decoration on the elephant’s back. The elephant's trunk is elegantly curved upwards, holding a layered parasol. The elephant is often associated with wisdom, strength, and divinity. In religious iconography, elephants are connected to Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The parasol-like object the elephant holds with its trunk could symbolize royalty, protection, or divine authority. Parasols often represent sheltering divinity or enlightenment in Buddhist art. Imagine this sculpture as the centerpiece of a grand temple, where it serves as a guardian spirit. Its presence tells a story of ancient rituals where offerings were placed in the parasol, invoking blessings. The kneeling position reflects humility and devotion, while the upward-curved trunk signals celebration and divine energy. This elephant could be seen as a bridge between earthly existence and higher realms, inspiring reverence and introspection. Dimensions: Height 15,5 cm Wide 7,5 cm Depth 4,5 cmWeight: 477,5 grams The elephant-headed god cast standing in abhanga on a double lotus base over a square stepped pedestal with two rings at the corners, wearing a short striated dhoti, sacred thread around his portly waist, adorned with ornaments, wearing a conical tiered head dress, holding a goad in upper right hand and a noose in upper left, his principal right hand with the end of his broken tusk and his right hand holding a delicacy which he samples with his trunk
Dimensions: Height 4 + 5 + 7 cmWeight: 336 grams with base Three Ganeshas on a square plinth with long trunks, probably holding their broken tooth in the hands Antique khmer style Angkor Wat bronze seated Ganesha. The distinctive patina of the piece is particularly delightful. Ganesha is the elephant headed son of Shiva. He holds his broken tusk in one hand and a bowl of sweetmeats in another hand. He is also holding one of his spiritual weapons, the Chakra or discus and a musical conch shell. Similar to Krishna Ganesha celebrates life through it's pleasures and beauty. The direction of Ganesha's trunk has symbolic meaning. Here the trunk turns to Ganesha's left. This signifies the direction for success in the world. It is a position associated with grihastas, or householders. In his early forms in India, Ganesha was associated with fertility. Later he became widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and more generally as Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles, patron of arts and sciences and the deity of intellect and wisdom. This small early Cambodian depiction of Ganesha is largely consistent with Indian prototypes. Seated on a diminutive lotus throne, the corpulent deity holds a bowl, broken tusk, goad, and what may be a cluster of prayer beads in his four hands.
