A mixed group of fossil items comprising: seven pieces of fossilised whalebone showing stratification; a section fossilised wood showing borings by shipworm; five Cretaceous echinoid casts in flint; two blocks of limestone with bracheopod fossils; a Cretaceous flint nodule showing bracheopods; a piece of pumice; a cross-section block of mineralised tree trunk. 4.3 kg total, 4-17cm (1 3/4 - 6 3/4"). Property of an Essex, UK collector; acquired on the UK art market, 1980-1990.[18, No Reserve] Mainly fine condition.
LARGE TAN LEATHER TRAVELLING TRUNK circa 1910, with a brass plaque to the lid engraved 'Lady Cowdray, 16 Carlton House Terrace, London W', the lid with two straps and side carrying handles, monogrammed 'A.C' below a coronet, with the retailers stamp to the leather keepers and a trade label to the lid, 'F. Best & Co, Own Make, Aldford St. Park Lane W and 188 Sloane Street, SW', the interior with a metal fixing plate and straps, 99cm wide x 59.5cm deep x 52cm high Note: Lady Cowdray was involved with a number of suffrage organisations.
