George III oak and mahogany-cased 8-day brass dial longcase clock, Thomas Lister, Halifax, circa 1780, the 13-inch square dial having a silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing rolling 'Halifax' axe-head moon, engraved foliate scrollwork and signed calendar dial. the knopped four-pillar movement rack-striking on a bell, the caddy-top case with fluted columns having brass Corinthian capitals over matching trunk quadrants beneath blind fretwork frieze and flanking a crossbanded long trunk door with patera, on canted base and bracket feet, 220cm high, sold with two weights, pendulum and keyThomas Lister (Senior) of Halifax (d. 1779), his son, also Thomas, d. 1814.
