The front panel intricately decorated with brass applied mounted and repeating stud work with three drawers to the base and large fret pieced lock. (q.v.) : educated at Haileybury : went to Bombay in the Civil Service, 1820 : Secretary to Government, Bombay, in the Secret, Political and Judical Departments, 1855 : Chief Secretary, 1861 : member of the Legislative Council, Bombay : resigned, 1865 : Secretary in the Judicial Department at the India Office, 1866 : K.C.S.I., 1867 : died April 7, 1879.
Francis Moore, Ferrybridge, a George III oak 8 day longcase clock, the 12" brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the chapter ring with Roman numerals and Arabic minutes, cast brass spandrels, the movement striking on a bell, plain arched hood and trunk, door with plaque "August 21, 1755", 2 x weights, no pendulum, 202cm. Moore is listed in Brittens Clockmakers as working in Ferrybridge c.1775.
