A Good Vintage Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk, c. 1928, serial no.745669, logo cloth, with brass hardware, wood slats, void interior, on brass squat wheels, painted monogram "L.F.C. / Cooperstown, N.Y.", with remnants of ship labels, height 19 1/2 in., width 35 3/4 in., depth 20 in. Provenance: Estate of James Fenimore Cooper IV. Note: The monogram on this trunk belongs to Linn Fenimore Cooper (b. 1899, Albany, NY - d. 1959, Sibu Sarawak, East Malasia), son of James Fenimore and Susan Cooper. A noted humanitarian and doctor, Cooper attended Yale and went to Harvard Medical School and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He practiced medicine in Washington, D.C. and overseas in Asia, England and Africa, with a stint as lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps. He is buried in Cooperstown, NY.

A Meissen porcelain love group, late 19th Century, modelled in the round with three pairs of lovers around a central tree, on a circular base, crossed swords in underglaze blue and incised `D93` to base, height approx 37cm (missing tree section replaced with a gilt metal trumpet vase and some other faults), together with a Meissen tree trunk section.
AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY THIRTY-HOUR OAK LONG CASED CLOCK by William Harris, Witney (1794-1823) having a moulded cornice, plain frieze, arched glazed hood door, turned columns, long crossbanded trunk door and plain base, the arch of the dial painted with a garden scene, the slender arched aperture over two `moving` figures, possibly once playing a racket sport (mechanism now lacking), the chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing the maker`s name and crescent-form date aperture, all framed by foliate spandrels. 203cm(h) Condition Report: Marks and scratches, platform or feet missing, cracking and discolouration to dial with losses to edges, crescent date aperture with heavy losses, moving mechanism for figures missing, inspection recommended.
A LATE 18TH CENTURY OAK EIGHT-DAY LONG CASE CLOCK having a flat-topped hood, reeded frieze, square glazed door and turned columns, access doors to each side, the slender arched trunk door over a plain base with bracket feet, the brass dial with a silvered chapter ring of Roman hours and Arabic seconds framing the maker`s name John Sutton, Penrith, a rolling date aperture and two winding holes, all within applied brass spandrels 185.5cm(h) sold with weights and pendulum. *** Possibly John Sutton of Carlisle (1744-1825) John Sutton was the son of Quakers John and Ann (Creighton) Sutton of Penrith the family originally from Clifton, Westmorland. Condition Report: Additional blocks under seat board making the dial a possible association., marks and scratches to case etc.
A GEORGE III OAK AND MAHOGANY THIRTY-HOUR LONG CASE CLOCK by Porthouse of Penrith (probably George Porthouse II, 1743-1817), having a broken swan-neck pediment with brass finial, arched glazed hood door and turned columns, the shaped and crossbanded trunk door between canted corners, on a plain base with conforming corners, the arch of the dial with a painted rolling moon phase dial over two hemispheres, the chapter ring of Roman hours framing the maker`s name and crescent form date aperture, within foliate spandrels, sold with weight and pendulum. 219cm(h) Condition Report: Pediment missing one disc terminal, loose finial, separation to base panel, losses to corners of base, feet missing, cracking, wear and fading to dial with small loss to one hemisphere, damage to pendulum.
