A 19th century Oak and Mahogany 30hr longcase clock retailed by �Turnbull of Whitby� with a tall swans neck pediment, brass ball and spire finial and two stamped brass paterae, glazed break-arch door flanked by two turned pillars, full-length wavy -topped trunk door on a rectangular base with applied shaped skirting, chain driven outside countwheel movement striking the hours on a cast bell, with a painted dial pinned directly to the movement, the arch depicting a country church, with a conforming ruin, country house and cottages to the spandrels, dial drawn with Roman numerals and minute markers with matching stamped brass hands, semi-circular date aperture and date ring behind. With weight and pendulum. The Turnbull family of Whitby clockmakers are recorded as working from Bridge Street, Whitby, from 1784 to 1870.Dimensions: Height: 220cm Length/Width: 46cm Depth/Diameter: 24cm
A mahogany longcase clock with a 19th century eight-day striking movement and earlier brass dial and steel hands, with a swans neck pediment on a plain frieze, square glazed door flanked by two circular wooden pillars with capitals, trunk with full length door and break arch top on a rectangular plinth with a raised panel and shaped skirting, 18th century brass dial pinned directly to the movement, with matching steel hands and Urn & scroll pattern spandrels, engraved dial centre and semi-circular date aperture, engraved roman numerals, minute markers and inner quarter hour track with half hour lozenges, later weight driven rack striking movement, striking the hours on a cast bell. A late Victorian c1860 30-hour chain driven oak and mahogany longcase clock with a swan neck pediment with wooden paterae and a central wooden finial, broad glazed break arch door flanked by turned pillars, on a veneered trunk with canted corners, a short oak door with a flat top, cross banding and applied carved cresting above, on an oak plinth with a shaped integral feet, fully painted dial with Roman numerals and minute track, matching painted spandrels and a depiction of a farm boy with horses in the arch, dial inscribed �Ness, Kirby Moorside�, dial pinned directly to a countwheel recoil anchor movement striking the hours on a bell. With pendulum and weight. Original casemakers label pasted to the backboard of the case.There were five generations of the �Ness� family of clockmakers in Kirby Moorside from 1823 -1912.
