A Victorian court outfit with Derby and Royal connection, comprising cape, trousers, waist jacket, tail jacket, tricorn hat, braces, white leather gloves, two silk handkerchiefs, two jabots, pair of buckled shoes, four pairs of stockings and two silver pommel walking canes contained in a tin Ede trunk. Provenance: Formerly the property of Derby Mayor Sir Alfred Seale Haslam of Breadsall Priory (1844-1927). Haslam is reputed to have worn this court dress for receiving Queen Victoria on her state visit to Derby at the City railway station on 21st May 1891. He was knighted by the Monarch at the same time. Photographs of Haslam in the said outfit can be see in Maxwell Craven's 'Derbeians of Distinction'.
A group of four WW2 medals awarded to 1169232 F/Sgt R Davey: 1939-45 and Burma Stars, Defence and War Medals, also F.Sgt Davey's tin trunk with pin-ups pasted inside the lid and containing his RAF uniform, photographs, News Chronicle dated April 28 1945, letters, other ephemera and various personal belongings.
