Provenance: Formerly the property of Derby Mayor Sir Alfred Seale Haslam of Breadsall Priory (1844-1927). Haslam is reputed to have worn this court dress for receiving Queen Victoria on her state visit to Derby at the City railway station on 21st May 1891. He was knighted by the Monarch at the same time. Photographs of Haslam in the said outfit can be see in Maxwell Craven's 'Derbeians of Distinction'.
