Oak longcased clock banded in mahogany, painted break arch dial with rolling moon, subsidiary date and seconds dials signed B Mitchells, Cockermouth, eight-day movement (detached from dial), in a swan neck hood with turned columns on a quadrant column trunk, height 233cm (pendulum, two weights). *See clocks and watches proviso. An early 19th Century eight day mahogany cased Longcase Clock (Irish), the 12" cream painted dial with Roman numerals and signed E Shirtsinger, Dublin, the subsidiary seconds hand dial below the 12 o'clock marker, the dome topped hooded door above a flame mahogany veneered shaped trunk door, raised on ogee style bracket feet, 191cm high, (veneers away and some splitting etc.,)
A George III period oak and mahogany Longcase Clock, the broken swan neck pediment above a 12" broken arch brass dial, the "rolling moon" mechanism above brass chapter ring with Roman numerals, central engraving of flowers and with arch shaped date aperture flanked by Classical style columns and gilded capitals, shaped trunk door flanked by quadrant pilasters, now minus brackets, 212cm (condition generally commensurate with age etc.,)
A George III period oak cased eight day Longcase Clock, the wavy style pediment flanked by two brass urn finials and above an 11" brass dial with Roman numerals and signed WILLm Dyer, Barnstable, above an interesting maritime engraving with clipper coming into land and all flanked by pierced gilded spandrels, rectangular mahogany crossbanded trunk door and raised on bracket feet, 207cm wide
A George III oak longcase clock, 13.5cm circular engraved brass dial, Roman chapter, subsidiary minute and date aperture, signed Harlow/Ashburn (sic), thirty-hour movement with countwheel striking on a bell, the hood with moulded outswept cornice and brass capped Doric columns, shaped rectangular top to trunk door, skirted base, bracket feet, 204cm high, c.1780Tjhe clock was made by Samuel Boulton Harlow (1751-1815), eldest son of Ashbourne clockmaker Joseph, although he was apprenticed to John Litton of Ashbourne 1767-1774, after which time he worked for a while at Birmingham before returning to Ashbourne where he sold clockmaking materials, made clocks to a high standard, as well as watches, and was the inventor in 1794 of a key to save breakages of watch springs (a device often attributed to Breguet). This relatively prolific family continued as clockmakers at Ashbourne for a further two generations. Condition Report: Dial has been restored, movement cleaned.
A German silver pineapple cup and cover, by Neresheimer of Hanau, with import marks for Chester 1906, importer's mark of Berthold Muller, the bowl of lobed circular form, the pull-off cover with a scroll finial, the stem modelled as a tree trunk and mounted with a figure playing bag-pipes, on a raised lobed circular foot, height 28.5cm, approx. weight 11oz.
