A Japanese Satsuma cylindrical jar and cover, the knop pierced finial above main body with simulated bamboo frame and set with panels of figures, birds amongst floral sprays and landscapes, overall raised on three elephant trunk supports, unsigned, height 23cm.Provenance: the property of a Worcestershire gentleman.Additional InformationMinor rubbing to the gilding noticeably on the bamboo uprights and raised parts, there are two small chips to the inside rim of the cover.
A Japanese Meiji period bronzed elephant mounted on wooden base, now set as a mystery clock, the timepiece with white enamelled dial set with Arabic numerals and on typical pivoting bracket, length 25cm.Additional InformationGeneral surface wear to the elephant, it has been later screwed through the end of the trunk to create the mystery clock. The dial is very badly cracked, the frame of the clock is misshapen and replaced and the watch is not in working order, general surface wear throughout.

Vier flache Beine mit profilierten Messingschuhen. 65 x 90 x 90 cm. Die Firma Friedrich Otto Schmidt in Wien produzierte u.a. auch Entwürfe von Adolf Loos wie z.B. den Elefantenrüsseltisch. Von dem hier vorliegenden Tischmodell mit den charakteristischen flachen Beine und dem umlaufenden Messingrand fertigte die Fa. Schmidt verschiedene Varianten. So ist ein schlichterer Tischtyp bekannt, aber auch ein Spieltisch-Modell mit aufwendig konstruierten mechanischen Extras. F. O. Schmidt, attr. Four flat legs with profiled brass shoes. 65 x 90 x 90 cm. The Friedrich Otto Schmidt company in Vienna also produced designs by Adolf Loos such as the elephant-trunk table. The Schmidt company produced different variants of the table model presented here with the characteristic flat legs and the surrounding brass rim. A simpler type of table is known, but also a gaming table model with elaborately designed mechanical extras.
