(240cm.) high, 26½in. (67.25cm.) wide.

A split in one side of the cornice

Seat board old, the cheeks not packed, the pediment with several old breaks and held together by old pieces of wire, the upper part of the case in particular the hood in a crackled varnish, heavily ingrained with dirt. The lower part of the case with shrinkage cracks and later skirting, unrestored
A GEORGE III OAK EIGHT DAY DEVON LONGCASE CLOCK WILLIAM HARRIS, HATHERLEIGH the 31cm brass dial signed on the silvered chapter ring Willm Harris HATHERLEIGH, engraved to the centre with two scenes and inscribed JOHN SELDON HATHERLEIGH, having subsidiary seconds dial and date sector, mask spandrels, the hood with ogee dentil cornice, blind fret frieze and pilasters, the trunk enclosed by an almost full length panelled door, 217cm h, c1790 Both William Harris and John Seldon, presumably for whom the clock was made are listed in the Universal British Directory, c1794, as a `watch and clock-maker, shopkeeper` and `maltster, respectively. ++A particularly attractive 18th c Devon dial with its original movement, both extremely dirty but apparently complete and unrestored on replacement seat board of perhaps 40 years age. Presumably long associated to the case since the cheeks are packed. The hour hand slightly damaged and the glass in the door to the foot cracked. The case 18th c and of pleasing old dry appearance with one or two minor old replacements and fault but not subject to any restoration. Sold with two iron weights and pendulum with brass bob. Long in present private ownership and consigned by a Devon family

The case with a number of old modifications and repair. Sold with two weights, one of which is brass sleeved and a pendulum with brass bob
A SCOTTISH GEORGE IV MAHOGANY EIGHT DAY LONGCASE CLOCK, ROBERT CRAIG, KILMARNOCK the 31cm engraved brass breakarched dial with ringed winding holes, date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial, signed on a convex disc to the arch Robt Craig KILMARNOCK, having mask and dolphin spandrels, the case with rudimentary swan neck pediment and spiral fluted pillars, the trunk with fluted pilasters, 215cm h, c1830 Provenance: Purchased from Jean Megahy of Glasgow on 26th August 1961 for £22.0.0.; thence by descent to the present vendors.++Dial with old polish residues and lacking one hand, original to the movement, the movement reasonably clean and complete, the plates to the movement with outset `feet`, the seat board old, possibly original, the cheeks packed with various pieces of old and wormed wood, the hood with modifications and probably associated to the trunk. Sold with two weights and pendulum with brass bob. Painted to the inside of the trunk door are a number of old newspaper cuttings and a photograph. The lower part of the trunk slightly speckled with white paint. Restored for the late owner by Kenneth Chapelle of Glasgow in October 1985.

A 19TH CENTURY SCOTTISH MAHOGANY CASED LONG CASE CLOCK by P (Peter) Martin, Glasgow (1840-60), having a circular hood with foliate carved crest, glazed door and carved brackets, the tapering fluted column form trunk with access to the left side, raised on a panelled trapeziodal base with turned feet, the circular dial painted in a bronze colour with Roman hours, maker`s name to the chapter ring, two subsidiary dials and winding holes, sold with two weights and pendulum. 212.5cm(h)CONDITION: The dial with blisters and losses, marks and scratches, some corrosion showing, the case with some marks, knocks and scratches, but generally attractive.
A 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY EIGHT-DAY LONG CASE CLOCK having a broken swan-neck pediment with disk terminals enclosing a petal carved platform (finial missing) over rosewood banding and birds eye maple veneer, the arched glazed hood door between turned twisted columns, the short, shaped and crossbanded trunk door with conforming banding and veneers and between canted corners, the crossbanded base on bracket feet, the arch of the dial painted with a peacock among foliage, the chapter ring with Roman hours enclosing two subsidiary dials, two winding apertures and the remains of a painted maker`s name, all enclosed by spandrels painted with garden folly ruins. 224cm(h) CONDITION: Faded, wear to dial, staining, some veneer/banding damage, front foot missing.
A LATE 18TH CENTURY MAHOGANY THIRTY-HOUR LONG CASE CLOCK having a flat-topped hood with moulded surmount, plain frieze, square glazed hood door and turned columns, plain trunk door and base, on a later plinth, the brass dial with Roman hours and Arabic seconds framing the maker`s name, engraved scroll decoration and rolling date aperture, all enclosed by applied spandrels, sold with weight and pendulum. 189cm(h)CONDITION: Marks and scratches, later plinth, the base panels re-attached or replaced, viewing advised.
