A REGENCY MAHOGANY SOFA TABLEEARLY 19TH CENTURY 72.5cm high, 101.5cm wide, 73cm deep Condition Report: There are scratches, marks, knocks, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use. There are losses, observations and restorations including: the top has a patch and is faded so that the drop leaves are darker, some gouges and a central sectional crack opened across the centre; the handles to one side are centred with mother-of-pear, the turned handles to the other side are possibly later; the pine drawer linings have some splitting; repaired breaks with visible cracks to two legs close to where they join the turned feet; overall knocks, marks, scuffing and some missing sections of veneer and mouldings. Exhibited at The First Convention of the Doll Club of Great Britain 1974. Similar pieces are illustrated in the 1925-26 Universal Toy Catalogue of John Hess. A Regency mahogany sofa table with rectangular moulded double flap top above a gadrooned frieze with single hidden drawer to one side, on rectangular tapering column with straight gadrooned collars and canted rectangular platform base with downswept legs and brass paw feet and castors, 90 x 70 x 70cm.
A sofa, sat on two metallic bases, on which George Michael posed for during the photoshoot for the 'Patience' album cover. Measures approx 245cm across, 97cm deep, 57cm tall (inc bases). With notable wear particularly along the backrest.Provenance: the sofa was an auction lot at the 2012 'Emeralds & Ivy' ball, hosted by Ronan Keating in aid of Cancer Research. Lot includes original purchase receipt from Cancer Research. Also to include framed presentation with signed George Michael patience CD cover, a framed promotional poster for 'Patience', a commercially available 'Platinum Disc'.
