λ A Regency mahogany sofa table, inlaid with ebonized stringing, the reeded edge drop-flap top crossbanded in rosewood, satinwood and kingwood above two frieze drawers to either side, on panelled and reeded trestle ends united by a reeded stretcher on conforming legs, terminating in foliate cast brass caps and castors, 71.7cm high, 109.5cm wide (closed), 78cm deep. Lot 273 – a Regency sofa table. The top has been cleaned at some stage. The patination lacks a little depth. There are two water spots and some old surface marks, light scratches and dents consistent with age and use. With some sections of inlaid stringing missing. Some stringing missing to the frieze drawers. One side a little more faded than the other. General wear, scuffs and dents to the legs consistent with age and use. One upright has been cracked and appears to have been re-glued at some stage. Some restoration has happened to the uprights. The top overall has faded a little and is not a rich dark mahogany but a lighter mahogany colour. Overall an attractive quality table in reasonable condition

Sofa - frame would benefit from oiling, rather dry, particularly the verso back support. Later screws added to the hinges. Minor natural? small splits visible around the block feet. Upholstery with some general wear but overall reasonable. Chair 1 - upholstery reasonable. Oak framework and panelling rather faded and dry. Later screws added to hinges, with small repair above one hinge. Upholstery reasonable. 230714
Royal Christmas Card [1952?], gilt embossed crown on front cover, inscribed Royal Christmas Card [1952?], gilt embossed crown on front cover, inscribed "To Sir Stewart Duke-Elder" in black ink, with printed greetings "With Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year", signed by the Queen Mother "Elizabeth R." in black fountain pen ink. Opposite the signed page is a mounted black and white photograph of the Queen Mother sitting on a sofa and wearing a long dress, crown and ceremonial sash. Overall size 20.3 x 34.3cm when opened, 4 pp, oblong. Closed tears to left margins, light browining to edges.
A Regency Mahogany and Boxwood Strung Sofa Table, early 19th century, with rounded drop leaves, one real and one sham drawer fitted to each side, raised on standard end supports with acanthus decorated toes and castors, 84cm by 61cm by 70cm 150cm extended. Timber of decent quality, with variations in colour, particularly one leaf which is faded, and drawer fronts and lower section. Old ring marks to the top. Small faults to the drawer fronts and repair/strengthening work around legs. Table structurally sound. Brasses and cast feet original. 150315
