SIMPSONS MOVIE, THE (2007) - Life-size Promotional Theatre Display of The SimpsonsA life-size display of The Simpsons sitting on their famous couch from the promotion of David Silverman's animated comedy The Simpsons Movie. A limited run of life-size statue displays were constructed for movie theatres, giving fans a chance to take their photo with all five Simpson family members. The display comprises life-size fibreglass-and-plastic figures of the Simpsons sitting on a large sofa. The couch is made of wood covered in orange-coloured plastic with black-painted outlining and detailing. There is light damage to the tips of Bart Simpson's hair, signs of scuffing, and cracking on the plastic layer of the sofa, exposing the wood beneath in places. A PAIR OF FRENCH BEECH AND UPHOLSTERED SOFAS IN LOUIS XV STYLE19TH CENTURYEach 91cm high, 192cm wide, approximately 75cm deep overallCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and useOld splits and cracks, knocks, indentations, losses to some carved elements such as the cresting. The cresting on each has joined sections to the upper part, this shows as a straight line through the grain to each side. These appear solid and stable at time of report. One sofa has cracks through the seat rail. Some signs of spliced repairs including to legsOverall all the sofas surfaces have been stripped and are a light colour overall. The joints to the timber show but appear to be solid and stable, the upholstery appears fairly recently applied however there is a tear to the padded arm to one sofa. The other sofa with a layer of dirt and discolouration to the front edge presumably from age and use in a domestic setting. The undersides are hessian covered and Dreweatts have not inspected any areas of concealed frame and therefore cannot guarantee there originality or give any comments as to condition. A button upholstered scroll arm sofa in the George III taste raised on square tapering reeded supports united by stretchers on brass caps and castors 222 cm wide x 72 cm deep x 83 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Whilst the over all look is fairly sound, there is movement in the joints, particularly to the arms and the upholstery whilst not original, certainly looks as though it could do with replacing. There are holes, wear and tear throughout. The stretchers appear to have been replaced, particularly the centre stretchers running horizontally and with a wedge to the left hand side to help secure. The legs appear to have had some damage and repair and wear and tear conducive with age and use - see images for further detail
