Mine is a vivid recollection of numbers being projected on our sitting room wall and the excitement I always felt knowing some magical entertainment was about to begin: numbers, in grainy black and white, counting down under the swoop of a revolving arm – NINE-8-7-SIX-5-4-3… The earliest memories I have of my father involve his film collection. We would curl up on the sofa, curtains drawn, and then suddenly from the projection room, usually concealed behind a painting, we`d see a shaft of light, speckled with dust, cut through the darkness.
