The Bob Monkhouse 16mm Film Archive - Part 1. An appreciation by his daughter. Many of us will be able to conjure up a unique, visual childhood memory. Mine is a vivid recollection of numbers being projected on our sitting room wall and the excitement I always felt knowing some magical entertainment was about to begin: numbers, in grainy black and white, counting down under the swoop of a revolving arm – NINE-8-7-SIX-5-4-3… The earliest memories I have of my father involve his film collection. We would curl up on the sofa, curtains drawn, and then suddenly from the projection room, usually concealed behind a painting, we`d see a shaft of light, speckled with dust, cut through the darkness. (see online catalogue for further details)16mm Films from The Bob Monkhouse Collection: shorts - `War Babies`, `Hollywood and Bust`, Abbott & Costello, `Bulleteers`, black and white Superman cartoon and `Out of the Inkwell` cartoon, contents not checked (4)
