A George III Style Mahogany, Amboyna, Tulipwood and Satinwood Sofa TableSecond Half 19th Centurywith mahogany-lined drawers.Height 28 1/4 x width (open) 58 1/8 x depth 25 5/8 inches. This lot is located in Chicago. With key. The top is constructed in sections when viewed from the underside. Blackened surface inside the pocket screw holes. Old nails without an identifiable purpose on an applied board on the cross strut. The pine divider between the drawers probably planed down, stained, and with old color and holes, along with patches that do not make sense. The casters' caps are not set recessed into the legs. Dripped stain on the cross stretcher. All of these factors suggest that although there are hallmarks of 18th century construction, and signs the table was made using older timber, it is not a Georgian table. The drawer linings are also coarser-grained mahogany which indicates a later date, and no quarter fillets on the insides of the drawers. Condition reports are available upon request. All lots are sold "as is," in the condition they are in at the time of the auction. The physical condition of lots can vary due to age, normal wear and tear, previous damage, and restoration.
