Vintage signed 3.5 x 5 photograph of the Duke and Duchess seated together in full length poses on a sofa, the Duke holding their infant son, Prince Edward, the current Duke of Kent, in his arms. Signed by both the Duke and Duchess individually in bold black fountain pen ink to light areas at the base of the image, the Duke adding the date 1935 in his hand. A George III mahogany framed three seater sofa on eight square tapering legs to brass caps and wheel castors, 204 cm wide CONDITION REPORTS Upholstery throughout in vey poor condition with rips, tears, staining and damage generally throughout. Sofa itself is in very used condition and is in need of sympathetic restoration. Although the frame seems solid, the legs have numerous large knocks and bumps throughout, looking at the piece from the front one leg to right end has a large split running vertically top to bottom, most of the legs have had additional brackets added to the tops of the legs to secure them more solidly to the frame (please see photos), all legs pretty much show signs of old treated woodworm, all castors appear to be of the same set and have knocks, bumps and scuffs conducive with age, there are signs of old woodworm holes to the main frame itself. Will require complete re-upholstery. There have been some additional blocks added to the back rail by the two centre legs we presume for support. The "across" rails appear to be original. There is a large crack running down the back right-hand leg. Central legs appear original but they are not attached to the main body of the frame like the outer legs - this was probably how it was originally made. In need of considerable sympathetic restoration. Size approx 204cm wide x 70cm deep x 86cm high (front of arms approx 74cm high)
