A George IV carved giltwood scroll end sofa, circa 1825, in the manner of Gillows, 102cm high, 200cm wide, 77cm deep (some later paint). Many of the carved details of this sofa, including the reeded legs and the characteristic scrolls, relate closely to those employed by Gillows in various forms of furniture produced by the firm. Designs for the legs and frieze terminals closely relating to those of this sofa also exist in George Smith`s Cabinet-Makers & Upholsterers Guide of 1826.
