He was heavily influenced by and was a serious collector of Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau, including leading designers and artists such as Charles Ashlee and Jessie M King. He assembled a large collection from the 1950s to 1970s. His book collection was subsequently sold through Sotherby’s and in 2013 his magnificent silver collection by Archibald Knox and others was sold through these rooms.Structurally sound, upholstery is in generally good order, just minor wear, slight scratches, small tear to seat of armchair front right. minor wear to frame

1930s lounge suite in the Howard style, shaped back, scrolled arms, splayed feet, comprising three-seater settee and two arm chairs.Condition report:The loose cotton covers are worn and with worn holes throughout, especially where they stretch over the shape of the frame underneath. What appears to be the original upholstery remains underneath. There is some movement to the arms of one of the single armchairs, the frames on the sofa and other armchair appear rigid. Judging from the underside of one of the armchairs, the original casters that sat behind the legs have been removed. Rubbed wear to the wooden legs, resulting in slight loss of definition to the corners.
