CHAPLIN CHARLES: (1889-1977) English Film Comedian, Academy Award winner. A good vintage signed and inscribed sepia 8 x 6.5 photograph of Chaplin seated in a full length pose on a sofa lighting a cigarette. Photograph by Apeda. Signed in dark fountain pen ink to a clear area at the head of the image and inscribed to Lupino Lane, 'To my old friend Nipper from Charlie'. Matted in pale brown and framed and glazed in an antique wooden frame (possibly the original) to an overall size of 12.5 x 10.5. Some scuffing and light staining to the image, only very slightly affecting the signature and inscription. An unusual image to find signed and with a good association. G Lupino Lane (1892-1959) English Actor and Theatre Manager. Lane began his career as a child performer at which time he was known as 'Little Nipper'.
