Tobia Scarpa (Italian, b. 1935) Afra Scarpa (Italian, 1937-2011) for Gavina, Italy. Mid-century modern Bastiano three-seat sofa with a white wood frame and russet orange-brown leather cushions.(Not including cushions) Height: 21 1/4 in x width: 83 3/4 in x depth: 30 in.Condition: The sofa is structurally sound and stable. There are no major losses, cracks, or tears. There is some wear to the cushions; there are no rips, tears, or repairs. There are paint losses throughout the frame, particularly along the edges. Some light accretions, most noticeably a yellow accretion along the back support.
Florence Knoll (American, 1917-2019) for Knoll International, New York City, United States. Pair of Mid-century Modern three cushion sofas, designed 1954. Green suede upholstery and chrome-plated steel. Four missing back cushions.Provenance: Distinguished Corporate Collection, Minnesota.Each; total height: 33 in x width: 84 1/2 in x depth: 32 1/2 in.Condition: The sofas are in good condition with no visible tears, rips, or losses. As expected from use, both show wear and light scratches throughout. One of the sofas has an area with a white stain to the left back of the outside back, possibly water damage. Both are structurally stable. Wear to the base, consistent with age and use. As noted in the listing, four cushions - two from each sofa - are missing and not included in this lot.
