A Louis XVI enamelled gold snuff box by Jean-Baptiste Marie (fl. 1769-1788), marked, Paris, 1778/1779, with charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache, later struck with two post 1864 French import marks, oval, the base and side panels enamelled in translucent caramel-colour on an engine turned ground, the cover with oval portrait plaque painted en grisaille with Joseph II (1741-1790), Holy Roman Emperor, flanked by a nude child with laurel crown and the Habsburg eagle with globe, sceptre and sword, the gold border enamelled with green leaves and chased with flowers surmounted by a bow cresting, the side pilasters hung with green enamelled swags, the frosted gold borders with twisted green and opaque ribbons enclosing pellets, 8cm (3.25") wide Provenance: Christie's London, 22 May 2001, Lot 152 (see illustration)
A Magnificent 18th Century Brass Chandelier, having two tiers of lavish scrolling branches. The top tier having eight roundel pierced flower and hoop branches, followed by eight decorative branches with diamond pendants between eight finial top branches with candle holders and circular drip trays, and the last tier of eight long sweeping s-scroll double branches with knop candle holders and large circular drip trays, between eight decorative floral branches. The large globe with a blade knop pendant finial.
A 19th Century Bronze Chandelier. The knopped central stem with mid section disc supporting six broken-scroll branches bearing candle-cups and drip trays to each end below a tier of six round candle reflectors projecting on short scrolling arms. The pendant globe base with hanging ring, 27 ins (69 cms) in length.
A Collection of 18th Century Tapestry Fragments, including a landscape with castle within a cartouche, 15 ins x 22 1/2 ins (38 cms x 57 cms), a landscape mountain scene within a vertical lozenge border of flowers 16 ins x 21 ins (41 cms x 53 cms). A foliate tapestry with beige border 15 ins x 15 ins (38 cms x 38 cms), and a tapestry of a central figure kneeling towards a globe and framed by a cartouche of scrolling acanthus leaves and red coloured highlights 27 ins x 24 ins (68 1/2 cms x 61 cms).
