Dan Hillier. King of Diamonds. 1/1 print with gold leaf, pencil, pen and ink. Signed and dated '17. 72.1 x 50.3cm. Framed. Dan lives and works in Hackney, London, making art for himself and for exhibitions and a few galleries, and he sometimes collaborates with others, including Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, The Folio Society, rock bands Architects, Royal Blood, The Broken Family Band and Steven James Adams, and most recently creating the opening titles to BBC1's major 6-part drama 'Requiem'. Dan's most recent solo show, 'Ceremony', was held at Saatchi Gallery, November 2016 - January 2017. In 2015 he was invited by the British Council to represent Great Britain at the Giant Creator Show in Beijing, China. Perhaps that's why they call him 'The Ambassador'. Framed. TLC is a great organisation and I love the idea of a disparate group of artists making a varied pack of cards without knowing what the others have been up to. I like the archetype of the King, and diamonds have a beautiful symbolism in many cultures. I had a loose idea of the diamond as indication of the enlightened mind, as found in Buddhist symbology, when I made this, and wanted the piece to be quite cosmic and have a somewhat archetypal feel to it.TLC is clearly a life-saving, life-enhancing charity that propagates amazing, important work, giving people a chance at life that they might otherwise lose. Please note that final invoices will include buyers' premium at 27% (inclusive of VAT) added to the hammer price. Ewbank's are waiving all vendor commission for the charity. Transplant Links Community is a UK registered non-religious and non-political charity that saves the lives of children and adults in the developing world who suffer from life-threatening end stage kidney disease. Offering teaching and advice, and carrying out living kidney transplants, sharing their knowledge with local medical teams in a variety of countries - so that sustainable transplant programmes become a possibility for the future.

Sir Patrick Stewart OBE (b.1940). Rear of Pack. Acrylic. Signed 'P Stew'. 15 x 21cm. Sir Patrick Stewart OBE is an English actor whose work has included roles on stage, television, and film in a career spanning almost six decades. He is a multiple time Olivier, Golden Globe, Emmy, Screen Actors Guild and Saturn Award nominee. Beginning his career with a long run with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stewart received the 1979 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Antony and Cleopatra on the West End. Stewart's first major screen roles were in BBC-broadcast television productions during the mid-late 1970s, including Hedda, and the I, Claudius miniseries. In the 1980s, Stewart began working in American television and film, with roles such as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and its successor films, as Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men series of superhero films, the lead of the Starz TV series Blunt Talk, and voice roles such as CIA Deputy Director Avery Bullock in American Dad! and the narrator in Ted. Having remained with the Royal Shakespeare Company, in 2008 Stewart played King Claudius in Hamlet on the West End and won a second Olivier Award. In 1993, TV Guide named Stewart the Best Dramatic Television Actor of the 1980s.[2] He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 16 December 1996. In 2010, Stewart was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to drama.
