This frame was manufactured in 1909. The barrel is Springfield armory 3-42 ordinance bomb. It has been turned into a target rifle by removing and filing down the military sight. A globe front sight has been installed as well as an Lyman receiver sight. The rear of the hand guard has been customized, the stock is original WWII pistol grip type C, but there is an inspector stamp BAWL which stands for Banicia arsenal post war WWII rework. A rollover cheek piece has been added to the top of the rear stock, serial number matching the frame has been electro-pencil on bolt. Muzzle has been re crowned. This was attempt by someone to create a period national match rifle. may have been a military armorer or private individual. Metal retains most of it's dark grey green parkerized military finish. Trigger shoe has been added, action is perfect, has an ME reading of 2 with a clean strong rifled bore. Should make a nice match gun. Comprising: A Model 1840 Musician's Sword by Ames and dated 1863. Straight blade, brass hilt and black leather scabbard with brass mounts. Excellent condition, blade retains at least 95% of original polish and has good markings, scabbard mounts and hilt retain an unpolished patina, leather on scabbard is excellent with a few minor scuffs. Also, a Model 1860 Staff and Field Officer's Sword by National Armory, straight blade with an eagle etched on one side with military motifs and scrolls, the other with "US" and military motifs. Cast brass hilt with eagle on guard and pommel, shark skin grip wrapped with brass wire, and nickel scabbard with brass cast mounts. Good condition, blade very good with a couple minor nicks and freckling, scabbard with brown patina and hilt unpolished. Masonic sword marked "HORSTMANN/PHILADELPHIA" on left side of nickel and gold washed etched blade, also marked "Patriarchs Militant" and "E.L. Thomas" with etched scenes on both sides. Unique hilt with cast gilt brass serpentine hilt and pommel with world globe and crown, nickel scabbard with relief gilt brass cast mounts. Excellent condition; showing little use or wear. Includes a green visor cap with silver and gold cockade. Black visor and sweat band. Cockade is reproduction. Cap has a few small holes; a red British military cap with black, patent leather visor, lining and sweat band; a German cap, scarlet band and white crown with scarlet piping around crown. Cockade and emblem, green visor, lining and sweat band. Hat is dirty with brown spots, loose lining and reproduction parts; an olive drab cap with red piping and black visor. Lining, sweat band, black visor and no. "55" inside. Shows wear with a crease in the visor; a similar olive drab visor cap with red piping. White, red and blue cockade. Lining, sweat band and no. "56" inside. Cockade is reproduction; a white German cap with red band and red piping. Black, green and red small cockade. Lining and sweat band. Maker's tag in lining, hard to read. Hand written name "Frederick". Small moth holes throughout the hat; a British officer's cap with white band and blue cloth crown and bearing maker's label "A. J. White, Ltd of London". British royal cipher in bullion on front of band. Two brass buttons, black chin strap, black visor edged with gold bullion band, lining and russet sweat band; an U.S. Marine Corps officer's summer white cap. Black patent leather visor with Gold bullion, oak leave trim. White cotton body with white soutache braid trefoil decoration on top of crown. Silver and gold emblem with anchor, globe and eagle. Gold and red bullion chin strap with two USMC buttons bearing same device as on cap band. Lining and sweat band. Maker's tag "Berkshire" and marked "Major P.E. Shea" on label. Light soiling on outside.
This rifle was manufactured in 1900. Standard features include a 30" full octagon barrel, blued finish, single shot, falling block, walnut stocks, Swiss buttplate with added palm rest, tang rear sight and an adjustable globe Winchester front sight. Rifle is chambered for the .32-40 cartridge. Barrel is a pleasing mix of blue-brown patina. Frame retains approximately 40% of the high polish original factory blue, the balance with some minor flaking and high edge wear. Palm rest is contemporary to the gun and appears to have been custom applied. Has the big heavy buttplate turning patina. Stocks needs some work, there is a crack on the left of the fore end, a plug at wrist, a patch on right side, and a crack that extends 8" from the butt. Fairly strong rifled bore. Perfect action. With a professional reworking of the stock, this would be a mighty fine Schutzen rifle. This rifle was manufactured in 1932. This was Winchester top of the line bolt action, magazine fed target rifle at the time. Features rust blued barrel and frame, ramp front sight with dovetail globe, military style plain pistol grip walnut stock, flat fully checkered steel buttplate. Also has a patented intricate target sight set in rear bridge dovetail. No provision for barrel rear sight, factory installed A-O scope blocks on barrel set 6-1/4" on center. Barrel and frame retain approximately 98% of their original factory blue finish, front barrel bands retain approximately 70% with high edge wear. Walnut stocks are excellent with a couple of minor dings. Floorplate and trigger guard are basically grey patina. Has one original Winchester stamped magazine. Comes with a period U.S. Springfield type brass frog leather sling. Near mint bore and perfect action. Slightly curved steel Spanish style blade with three thin fullers. Oval-shaped slotted brass guard with four piercings, integral with knuckle bow, which terminates in a ferrule at rear of grip. Solid brass globe pommel with small integral capstan. Octagonal bone grip with each face having a series of serrations. Very good condition; blade retains an even heavy brown patina with a few scattered sword nicks on edge. Hilt retains a mellow patina with a few light scattered marks. An Imhof rotating globe timepiece, 17.5cm high; together with another old brass carriage timepiece, the dial inscribed 'Jackson, Southsea', height including handle 14.5cm, with winding key. Condition Report: Imhof globe has cracks to the white globe and appears to have been overwound. Carriage clock winds and ticks and appears in good order, no breaks or glass damage, dial undamaged.
