Box of "The Wide World" Magazines. 63 Magazines ranging between 1952 and 1964. The Wide World Magazine was a spectacular publishing success which appeared in the late 19th century and survived until 1965. Purporting to convey the "true" adventures of contributors, the magazine offered readers a monthly smorgasbord of excitement from every corner of the globe. Individual copies can be found on the web at prices between £5 and £50. Condition is generally very good.
The Liverpool & London and Globe Insurance Company (1836-1919) Policy Documents include Fire Policies and Annuity Bonds, late 19th early 20th century, with company vignette, official stamps and signatures, condition varies A/G. The Liverpool and London Fire and Life Insurance Company had been formed by an amalgamation in 1846 of the Liverpool Fire and Life Insurance Company (established in 1836 at 8 Water Street, Liverpool, for the purpose of fire and life insurance in the United Kingdom, North America and overseas) and London Edinburgh and Dublin Life Insurance Company (instituted in 1839) of 3 Charlotte Row, Mansion House and Chancery Lane. The company had moved into the Poultry premises in 1850. (16)
Five English enamel rectangular plaques or box covers 2nd half 18th century, one printed and coloured with a scene of rural lovers, another with a young man standing between groups of young ladies, one with a maiden seated beneath a tree, another with a landscape scene within a blue enamel border, the last with Fame blowing her trumpet and resting on a globe, within a raised gilt scrolling border, some damages, 8cm max.
