Rev: KWN MX AND legend with Michael in centre, Constantius on left and Andronicus on right, all standing facing on footstools, all beardless and wearing loros; Michael holding labarum and akakia, his brothers each hold a cross on globe and akakia. Circa 6th century AD. Imitating the emperor and Jupiter types of the period 253-282 AD. Obv: garbled legend with radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev: garbled legend with emperor, radiate, standing right, receiving standard? from a figure who appears to be a mixture of Jupiter (naked) or Fides (with standard) or Sol (holding globe), standing left; cross between them in lower centre and mintmark VX cross CI. Similar reverse type to Probus, RIC 390 with IOVI CONSERVAT legend and mintmark VXXT (bronze); no aureus known from any emperor with this reverse type. 3.8 grams. Fine condition.
Dated 1816 AD. Bahia mint. Obv: crowned arms dividing date with mark of value to left and JOHANNES D G PORT P REGENS ET BRAS D legend with traces of original coin showing. Rev: globe over cross with SUBQ SIGN NATA STAB legend with obverse of original Mexico mint 8 reales clearly showing, including mintmark. KM# 307.1. 26.68 grams. Very fine and better, a little weak in legends from being an overstrike. Scarce.
A Sixteen Branch Dutch Bronze Chandelier having two tiers of scrolling zoomorphic candle arms pinning onto a knopped stem above a globe pendant and surmounted by decorative silhouette cut mermaids blowing pipes beneath a twin headed eagle finial, 41¼ ins (105 cms) drop, 37½ ins (95 cms) wide.
A Fine Late 17th Century Scandinavian Brass Eight Branch Chandelier. The knopped centre stem hanging from a trefoil suspension loop and having an upper disc of slot-on reflectors hung with engraved silhouette cut tassel pendants, and lower disc pierced with numbered mortise holes corresponding to the tenons of the eight scrolling candle-arms; each arm adorned with a zoomorphic surmount and bearing a screw-on candle cup within a dished drip pan, above a large globe pendant, 31½ ins (80 cms) drop, 29 ins (74 cms) wide.
