Very fine, but traces of mounting on edge £300-£400
Early Gilbert & Barker gas pump with older restoration done in Red Crown gasoline motif. Painted red inside and out with proper and double sided reproduction metal globe and glass inserts. Some exterior parts re-chromed and added a new white cloth gas hose. Has the original side buttons, visual gallon scale panel and dial face. It is missing original pump handle. Condition: Good.

BURNLEY-CAMPBELL LT. COL. HARDIN (1843-1920). Letts's Diary & Almanac for 1878 with many manuscript entries covering the period January to October (with some gaps) when the writer was based at Ambala & very active in the Afghan campaign. The diary also contains translations of Hindi words & a note on tiger shooting, 1879; with some 20 orig. autograph letters (signed Hardin Burnley) to his father & family at Ainslie Place, Edinburgh (these mostly in orig. stamped covers ex Umballa; & a few other loose letters, a manuscript statement of "Bill Accounts" & one or two other items. 1878-1880. Major Burnley (later Burnley-Campbell) served in Ireland & subsequently in India with considerable involvement in the Afghan wars including General Roberts' march from Kabul to Kandahar. He saw service in the first Boer campaign & retired in 1882 receiving the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Later he circumnavigated the globe in 40 days, 19 hours & 30 minutes, breaking the previous record of 54 days.
