Polished blade with gothic motto to centre “Patriarchs Militant”. Blade etched with maker / retailers details “W A RAYMOLD NEW YORK”. Opposite side of the blade etched with pattern and original owners name “S B Cushman”. Blade 71cms, overall 93cms.

Blount, Sir Christopher (1556-1601) English Soldier, Secret Agent, and Conspirator Autograph letter signed to Sir Humfrey Ferrers, 1 pp., folio, with integral address leaf and a fine impression of his red wax seal, no date but late 16th century. Blount urges Sir Humfrey, and two others, to settle their dispute with one Master Skevington, erosion to top right hand corner affecting two words, otherwise in good order Note: Blount fought with Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, in several military campaigns and joined with him in the ill-fated conspiracy to capture and depose Elizabeth I in 1601 (when they famously bribed Shakespeare to stage his longest play at the Globe Theatre in order to distract attention). Blount, like Essex was executed as a result.
An English Celestial library globe J.Addison, circa 1820, the 18inch globe comprised of two sets of twelve split hand coloured engraved gores, supported in a graduated engraved brass meridian ring with hour circle, fitting in a horizon ring, with calendrical scales on an associated turned oak stand, 98cm high.
Oak Globe-Wernicke three section bookcase, 124 x 86.5 x 32cm. Top section no label other two sections have Globe Wernicke labels.Top section has heavy scratching and marks, and a stain to the top left corner and minor scratching to the glass. The colour to the top section looks darker than other two sections. The top is possibly not original Bottom glass does not slide all the way in- needs attention
