RARE AMERICAN FOLK ART COMMEMORATIVE GOURD, finely carved with a native American standing on a globe whilst crushing the British Imperial lion under foot, the standing figure holding an upturned cornucopia in one hand and a flag and a tethered horse in the other breaking a flaming torch or staff under its hoof, to his left and above are flower head motifs, possibly depicting the 11 stars of a confederate flag or the centennial exhibition; the whole carved with exotic foliage including palm and gourd trees, this is divided by a banner inscribed in Latin 'VI JUSTITIA INDEP. A light amber coloured glass mosque lamp, late 19th/early 20th century, with trailed blue calligraphic and geometric band decoration, with three suspension lugs supported by chains and with lower drop pendant with applied blue prunt Width approximately 28 cm, height 36 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: On one shoulder there is a very fine surface scratch approximately 9 cm long. We do not believe this to be a crack as it cannot be felt on the interior. One of the suspension lugs has a firing flaw leaving a small fingernail patch of the surface slightly raised and slightly grazed. The suspension wire holding the lower globe has been replaced. Other than those mentioned there appear to be no further obvious faults.
A Troughton and Young Ultralux wall light, circa 1930, with milk glass globe and chromium plated mount and a similar ceiling light with milk glass and chromium mount (unmarked), height 21.5 cm and 17 cm respectively CONDITION REPORT: Both domes are in good order. Both are a different shade of white to one another. The wall mounted example has a fitting to accept electrical cables but none are evident. The chromium is basically in good order although it has a pitted effect but is still intact. The other light fitting has no wire or electrical attachments.
