"Outer space now belongs to James Bond 007". At the time of its release in 1979, Moonraker was the highest-grossing 007 movie to date. JAMES BOND: VARIOUS PRODUCTIONS - Carter-Jones Collection: Signed and Hand-Numbered Limited Edition Print by Robert McGinnis, 1999Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Originally commissioned in 1998 as one of a series of poster designs intended to promote the James Bond Exhibition held at the Roemer - Und Pelizaeus - Museum, Hildesheim, Germany. Titled "Agents, Villains and The Babes", the stunning 007 artwork by regular Bond poster artist Robert McGinnis features a highly detailed all-action montage from Bond's previous adventures with border artwork made up of beautiful, largely naked or scantily clad women which after consultation with the Museum Board was considered too risqué to use in publicising the Exhibition. Proving to be a hugely popular design, McGinnis himself reworked the art, adding a bikini here and a swimsuit there so it would be less controversial and released a limited edition lithograph himself of only 350 with this being hand-signed and numbered #28. Also used for the Sunday Times Magazine November 7th 1999 edition cover, it is a hugely desirable piece of Bond memorabilia. Provenance: The Carter-Jones Collection represents one of the world's finest and most comprehensive James Bond poster collections acquired over a 50-year period by Adam Carter-Jones, who was inspired to start collecting by his father, Duncan. It includes material from across the globe, including some once-in-a-lifetime pieces, and spans the entire Bond canon.19.75" x 31" (50 x 79 cm)Additional Information: Signed and Hand-Numbered #28/350Condition: Near MintArtist: Robert McGinnis£300 - 600VAT Status: MClick here for our Poster Auction Grading Guide
